Polish Transfers 2018

Recommended Posts

This is what Phil the ace put on another thread

This is the new polish contract apparently

The Polish Motor Association has published the rules and regulations governing slag sport in 2018. They do not like slogans who have a lot of objections. It is all about registration for players from PGE Ekstraligi.

What they do not like? Our interlocutor delivered selected passages from the regulations along with examples:

- supplying the club with his medical records to the athlete in order to verify whether the athlete complies with the anti-doping rules, the competitor's cost. Price is about 1000 PLN for each test.

- 45 well-defined advertising spots, uniform guards, kevlar and shields - pays the athlete

- no advertising on the golf course, back on the protection collar

- no sponsor logo on the back of the kevlar, seat

- no advertising on the muffler

- ads on the engine warmer

- rear cap - logo of only one sponsor

- helmet - maximum of 3 places

- cap - maximum of 3 seats

- all sponsorship agreements longer than 2018 are invalid

- everyone must obtain a written agreement to sign the contract with the sponsor before signing it

- if signed without written consent must be paid - club 1/3 of income and Ekstralid 1/3 of income

- the obligation to take part in all events for the PZM awards in the coveralls and clubs

- participation in the presentation of the ceremony without a bottle, helmet, fender or other accessories with the logo of the sponsor

- the obligation to give interviews on every request of the TV

- 6 marketing meetings in the season at their own expense for PZM and Ekstraligi

- on demand Ekstraligi need to write marketing reports

- every public performance in Poland

- each player's own use of his / her name, logo, nickname is subject to a penalty of 500 thousand. zł (ie, eg. for making your calendar, mug, lanyard, etc.)

- a club or PZM may at any time revoke the consent player to start abroad for any reason

- the obligation to start in the Championship Ekstraligi, Speedway World League and Super League Cup

- possibility to deduct 5% For every lost match

- a tactical reserve or a normal 50%. pay for each point

- 1: 5 loss - 25% pay for every point

- deductions for injuries for the signature for each match of absence

- for violation of anti-doping rules - 500 thousand penalties

- for losing the ability to take part in competitions (eg cross injury or fall from stairs) - PLN 50 thousand

Will this affect teams from getting anyone that rides in Poland top league

They are angry about the sponsorship really. Less money for the riders.

Looks like plenty of ways for clubs/PZM to claw back large chunks of the bounty on offer.

Will be a few riders paying to ride in Poland rather than cashing in going but that list.....

I just read that all the top riders have not signed contracts yet , they had a meeting and wont sign until what ?? Google translate is totally useless

Polish Speedway Ekstraliga is facing a problem. World champion Jason Doyle, former champions: Tai Woffinden and Nicki Pedersen plus Matej Żagar, Maciej Janowski and many other world top sriders have not signed and do intend to sign new season contracts in the present shape.

Yesterday (4th of November) riders have met in Bydgoszcz, where they set up an action plan.

- We came to an agreement on lot of things. But I do not want to talk about details, because I belevie our speedway authorities should be informed first, "said Krzysztof Cegielski, head of the" Methanol " (Speedway Riders) Association.

Riders do not like the new speedway regulations for the 2018 season published on 1 November by the PZM, Polish Motoring Association. They claim that these new regulations are extremely harmful to them. They impose additional penalties while limiting their freedom in individual advertising contracts. -

I do not see any rider who would be willing to ride whilst these regulation are in force . It is true that riders have agreed terms with the clubs, but on 1 November, when the rules came into force, they were completely taken by surprise and shocked. There are additional financial burdens for them, which have already exceed their potential - Cegielski said earlier.

At the meeting in Bydgoszcz the riders agreed that the new contracts will not be signed at the moment. Even those who have long-standing contracts such as Patryk Dudek, Bartosz Zmarzlik and Piotr Protasiewicz do not intend to sign annexes to contracts in which there are controversial entries.

Polish speedway authorities are somehow surprised because according to them not much has been changed - No financial burden was imposed on riders, and nothing has been changed on financial conditions acording to which they compete - Ryszard Kowalski, a spokesman for Polish Speedway EkstraLiga.

Well I think Zagar doesn't have any choice since he is without a Swedish contract as well.

So the figures have been released last season clubs spent £12 million on rider contracts and sponsorship in the Extraliga.

No wonder people don't want to ride in the Uk when you can earn ten times in Poland for a 3rd of the races.

£1.5 Million on average a club..

Circa £310k for the best riders to around £100k for the bottom end of the team...

And some teams will pay that out for just 14 matches...

Over £20k a match for the very best...

No wonder Poland wants total control of their investments..

Signing on fees can be up towards £30k!

A different world indeed...

Unfortunately cannot send link..

Interesting to see that there are no longer the £600-£750k contracts prevelant five or so years ago though. (Although whether that all got paid anyway is open to conjecture)..

Hampel got a 200K signing on fee in 2011 for ZG which is just insane.

I imagine Doyle will be on some mega bucks at Torun. His signing on fee will be near 200k i imagine.

MAtt Ford said that some riders in Poland are earning 35K per meeting. With that type of money you can do what you want with the riders. Sweden is 2nd and at top end they are paying 10K a meeting.

Good rumour here for all British fans.

Craig Cook is rumoured to be an option for Sparta Wroclaw.

I would not be happy with this because I think there is better options out there as a Sparta fan.

But he is cheap and putting him with Tai and Magic(speaks English well).

Fricke is a lot of money to sit on the bench all year. We will have to wait and see.

Cook must get a spot in Poland this year. I imagine it will be in Nice League 1 but if he wants to do well in the GPS he needs practice in Poland.

Ride in Poland 14 times a season and get over £300k....

Or dont, and ride in Britain 36 times a season and pick up £2-£3k a night?

In essence, not far off three times the work for, at best, about a third of the money...

Most top riders will do Sweden leaving Britain as the next League down to earn some decent money in should they give Poland a miss..

That will be why the Polish Teams will be so bullish...

Similar stand offs have happened around the world in other sports eg MLB, NBA, NFL, when those who paid the wages felt the competitors held too much power and salaries were running 'too hot'...

Looks like Polish Speedway is taking its opportunity now to do the same....

With some strangely worded translations of the Polish statements over the past few days, one of the later ones refers specifically to Rune Holta (who is/was due to sign for Torun). It suggests he is the first rider to 'go against the rules' but is not clear whether its against the clubs' new rules or against what his fellow riders agreed on Saturday?!

The clubs are due to meet today (Tuesday) so it'll be interesting to read a good translation of what their updated position will be and how the riders will respond en-block?!

According to sports.pl Holta signed his contract with Torun yestarday. (disregarding his fellow riders stance on the new restrictions)

So the figures have been released last season clubs spent £12 million on rider contracts and sponsorship in the Extraliga.

Would you mind quoting the source of your info.

Where the figures come from?

The Extraleague TV contract isn`t for peanuts- the clubs are getting big money in from it.

The advertising space on riders kevlars has been disputed for some years now.

According to some info kevlar's advertising space value can be as as high £210K per season, and the whole amount goes into rider's pocket

So hardly anyone is going to give up on this. Obviously there is a conflict of interest here, and some kind of comprise would be best option.

Polish clubs and the EkstraLiga are limiting riders freedom on signing contracts because they have to look after their big sponsors interest.

The point is that the clubs sponsors are paying huge sums of money and cannot afford (allow) individual riders to advertise their competitors.

It is therefore natural that the authorities of PGE Ekstraliga will not allow any competitor to be sponsored by Energa or Enea. ( all three brand names are Poland's energy providers) . Every year PGE pays a few million into EkstraLiga account and expects full loyalty.

Similarly, in the case of club sponsors who spend several hundred thousand zloties annually, and in return are assured stadium advertising board and riders' their logos on kevlars. In their opinion, there is no place for the competitor's logo on the same kevlar and stadium.
