IronScorpion 1,407 Posted August 28, 2017 Having a strong no1 means having a guest when he is missing so can normally pick a track specialist. Using today as an example for guests not easy to come by is a poor one as it is a Bank Holiday where there are more meetings than a normal day. Having a strong reserve(no6) who, when scores well & has more rides, because the 1-5 are not performing. He then moves in to the 1-5 & the poor scoring, normally 2nd string, then moves to reserve. He is then expected to score well against almost the same riders as if he was a 2nd string. It's a mental game for the riders, & Gappmaier, for Berwick, is proving that this is the case. He scored well as a reserve early season, moved to the main body & is now back at reserve. He scored well on Saturday & looking at the updates in the heats he was in shows how he scored them, but it, also, shows your point that a no6, hopefully, will score the points against opposition no6 & no7's. Possibly team ridden home by a better rider(1-5) & the retirement by Ty, also, makes his score look good. Good team mates & team management.
Terrace Grumbler 337 Posted August 28, 2017 Depending on the type of team George chooses to build next season, and also I suppose on the league structure, if we keep the reserves (I now think they're worth persevering with, second halfers or not - I just wish we'd had them since April) then assuming Lambert is away I would keep only Ludde out of the current top 5, and I wouldn't bring back Lerr or Rose, either. Let's have some fresh blood in the team.

Dandelion 775 Posted August 28, 2017 (edited) I've got to here your reasoning behind not having Steve Worrall back and please don't go down the doubling up excuse as any rider you get to replace him will be doing exactly the same thing!!!! Probably just think he's moving on? I'd keep Steve and Ludvig at least if they wanted to stay, and hopefully Robbo too Yeah he is entertaining at home I'm not disputing that but the fact was at the start of the season he was signed as third heatleader to back our big two up which he hasn't done hence his average dropping. You could have 7 entertaining riders but if you get beat every game how is that any good? Your idea of bringing Robson, Lindgren back why? Can I ask we've had those for the past few seasons and we've won nothing and we would have the same problems as this season ok at home but shocking away. Imo we need a big shake up in the winter but I'd definitely keep Bowtell and Stevie if he wanted to come back. He started as a second string Number 4 And has been all year, I think it was expected that Rose kicked on and became the third heat leader, which he might have done had he not been injured... I'd rather be entertained that win 5-1 every heat... I bet even winning gets boring... Because Robson and Lindgren have been the best partnership we've had for a very long time (and I mean proper partnership, not Steve and Robet in Heat 13), they team ride so well with eachother and they're both on pretty low and bargain averages imo... We might not have won anything, but the whole team's success doesn't rely on two riders... It's the make up of the whole team that's important... Robson is pretty good most places he goes to... Most of the time, We do need a big shake up, but seeing some of the same riders would also be nice too, it's the reserves and no offence our number 2 that needs sorting out... Ashley isn't a number 2, Robson is always worth the admission fee... Edited August 28, 2017 by Dandelion

Yeah he started at number 4 but average wise he should be scoring as a third heatleader but he hasn't that's why his average has dropped so much. How long has Lindgren been on a bargain average though? He won't be any better than what he currently is. I personally wouldn't want him or Robson back even though he has done good since he's joined us. Agree about Morris the only way I would have him back would be if we could get him in at reserve.
