Racing On Set Nights

Recommended Posts

I MAY be wrong but I thought the idea of set race-nights wasn't necessarily about attracting the "top" riders back to the UK but, if two leagues remain, trying to ensure that there are no fixture clashes between Premiership and Championship sides.

Sorting out the ludicrous amount of matches where teams arrive with riders missing has to be the priority over getting the top riders back.

British Speedway is hardly in a position to chastise other countries over rider availability when we have so many clashes with the other two leagues in the UK.

And what do you put the last 10 years' of decline down to?

teams of guests ,win at all costs , fixture list chaos , 3 meetings in 1 week none for a month , pandering to Poland (recent ) + riders , teams that change every week so nobody recognises who is in their team , people getting away with loopholes , certain yeams doing as they please and others having to obey the rules , piss poor presentation , lack of advertisement , Doyles fault .Lol (f he wasnt so bloody greedy afford some local advertising , the GP series interrupting the fixture list , sky TV and their money being pocketed by gospeed instead of being invested in speedway ,

Like Philip Rising, agree with this

So, those are the problems . . . . How do we go about solving them?

It's one hell of a mess - one hell of a mess compared with the past

So . . . Perhaps a return to the past might actually be a good idea!

it's easy to point out what the problem is . but not so easy to find a solution , one of the difficulties is that our speedway is not club based like Poland ,Denmark and Sweden , so what may be good for the sport as a whole will not suit an individual small business , consequently getting consensus from all sides in any league is the first stumbling block to any radical ideas , being business based also prevents gaining grants which help many other sports balance the books , the bspa need to put personal wants and needs aside and work for the greater good but sadly promoters always have their own best interests to put first , a good start would be handing over the sport lock stock and barrel to an independent body , one which has no previous dealings or interest in speedway , let someone who has no vested interest (but obviously similar proven experience ) take the whole thing and reboot it ,

+ endless re-runs. Someone is always gonna gate quickly & it's unreasonable to expect all 4 riders to hit the first turn in perfect line abreast every time. Long as no-one obviously moves or touches the tapes, let the race continue...

Simple fact is there will be no fans to pay riders enough to make ends meet in current situation.Bspa will do anything to keep Top flight and sod the rest.

That is certainly the way it seems to me. I have thought this for a number of years now.

The problem is that the Premier League see the Championship as an inferior League. It may be so in quality of Rider - but it certainly is not in the form of excitement provided to it's Supporters. That is, until, once again the Premier League is short of Teams, Riders etc.. they just come along and proceed to wreck the Championship League. To me, that is all wrong.

If Sheffield and Ipswich do go up next year, has anybody asked what effect that will have on the Championship, of course they haven't - they couldn't care less.

They will make up the numbers with a couple of National League Teams who, in all probability, will be unable to afford it. This will result in them getting hammered most weeks, Support will fall and those Clubs could/will fail and close down.

But - the Premiership must be maintained at all and every cost.
