Hacksaw Jim Duggan 199 Posted September 8, 2017 (edited) By no means a full listing just a few I came up with Wethers. Pijper. Garcia. Bridger. Sundstrom. Elkhof. Wallner. Covatti. Michelson. Korneilison. J.davidsson, D.Davidsson, Buzkowski, Holder, Batchelor, Aspgren, Wilkinson, Madsen, Hume, Lebedevs, Palovaara, Hansen, Vissing, lykke , Karger, Bach , Thomsen, Grondal, Smolinski, Zengota, Skornicki, Dilger, Bukhave, Berge. That's. 33 without the bigger names who may return on set nights.. The vast majority of the riders mentioned have been cut out of Britain for a reason. The problem with a few of these riders is their current scheduled and the logistics of fitting them into our racing calendar – I doubt for instance sides like Glasgow or Newcastle could make these additions due to logistics involved, and the number of meetings the riders would miss if the clubs race nights stay the same (Saturday and Sunday) . There is then sides like Berwick, Workington and Scunthorpe who are rumoured to face issues as it is without the additional cost of having to bring more riders over from the continent - the travel costs involved – who is taking that burden? The club? Or the rider? If it is the club, it’s an additional cost, if it’s the rider they will expect more money, and if that money isn’t paid it won’t then be worth their while to come, thus the numbers issues remains, or clubs push the boat out even further to compete, and thus are going to face an even bigger loss to sign some of they riders. If these riders are signed to fill out a set night calendar in a top flight are they then simply taking up team places that should be reserved for British riders – a side like Poole signing someone the ilk of Joonas Davidson over even a rider at the stage of his career Paul Starke is at feels counterproductive and a step back to what was a problem issue – nor do I think that change would shift the attendance needle but would alter the cost element. Or, the alternative is sides moving their race calendar so team places can be found for riders like Vissing, Berge and Bukhave? If you move teams like Newcastle and Edinburgh to midweek to do that you would kill they tracks off very quickly. It does seem some feel the solution is to not only slit the throat of the sport to solve issues, but utterly bludgeon on it to the point of no return, while things are grim just now, it isn’t in the extreme position some wish for quite yet IMO. The final reason for many not being here is - some of them are crap. Edited September 8, 2017 by Hacksaw Jim Duggan
