A new statement on the RH website (sorry, no idea how you put links up) - worth reading!

If clubs are running at a profit/break even, why should GP riders be done away with?

You only have to look at the shambles in the Championship of fixtures being cancelled and moved because teams need guest riders and there aren't any available. What a joke situation that is. Scunthorpe going to Redcar tonight with only 3 of their usual team. There simply isn't enough riders for one big league.

I haven't done the maths on whether 6 man teams would seem more logical to try and make it work but even that seems a long shot to me.

Only two clubs have GP riders in their line ups. The league isn’t exactly flooded with them.

So we’re at a point where we hope our clubs are just breaking even? That’s only going to end one way and that’s more clubs going the way of Rye.

When things are rosy at your own club it’s easy to take the if it’s not broke don’t fix it attitude but there are serious issues with Speedway in this country and they need fixing. If one league (which there are enough riders for) is the answer and the standard drops slightly so that we can all prosper in future then so be it.

Although currently only two official riders, Niels K Iversen has ridden in the GPs this year and also Chris Holder would of been in the league too but for visa issues. You can add Martin Vaculik to that list before his injury. There is still some other top riders within the league currently like Lambert, Bjerre, Andersen and up until yesterday Kasprzak etc.

There is a massive problem currently and it's certainly not all rosy. But one big league where everyone has to drop down to Redcar's standard is not the answer. That will see fans leave the sport in it's masses!

The comment about breaking even is because believe it or not, I don't have every club's financial status so I assume the at the very least to make things a success, clubs need to break even.

I have serious doubts now as to whether Speedway will be able to see out the rest of the season

Rye say they have been thrown out by the BSPA despite making a proposal to continue. Madness by the BSPA.

Thought the original statement said it was SCB who pulled the plug.

Fans are leaving the sport in masses now anyway and it isn’t because of the standard of teams in the main. It’s the growing costs for the same, if not less in terms of product. Sides wouldn’t have to weaken to “Redcar’s standard,” there would be a points limit for all teams to build to with the intention of producing evenly weighted teams as there is now.

You’d be surprised. Even with the sarcy comment about not having the finances. It depends who is running each club as to whether they’re Speedway people and will take a loss each year because they love the sport or if they’re in it as a business, which I can’t imagine many are.

The National League is gaining clubs year on year at the moment, they can’t sustain racing in the top two tiers. That should be an indicator that we need to change things. Be it going semi-pro, or the more radical step of these NL clubs breaking away from the BSPA and setting up shop for themselves in a similar manner to how the PDC split from the BDO in Darts in the early 90’s when that sport was dying on its arse.

The BSPA make the decision and request the SCB to annull the SCB Racing Licence

Firstly, we would like to thank all our supporters, dedicated staff and volunteers for their hard work and continued support throughout the season.

It is with great regret that the Rye House Rockets have been forced from the Premiership league following the cancellation of the meeting at home against Swindon on 27th June 2018 by the BSPA.

Our proposal to the BSPA securing the future of the Rye House Rockets was categorically rejected.

We would like to clarify that BMR Speedway Limited continues to operate and remains committed to seeing Speedway as a major part of the future at Rye House Stadium.

The future sees Speedway continuing at Rye House for the remainder of the season and forward into 2019. Updates will be provided on our website: www.ryehouserockets.co.

That would depend on what their proposal was surely?

Of course. But assuming it was about Saturday matches rather than something quite unreasonable (like BSPA lend us £100k), the BSPA should bend over backwards to keep speedway going everywhere.
