How Many Of Us Are Losing Interest.?

Recommended Posts

Can't wait to see some live speedway again, particularly supporting my team :D  Lost interest, no way!!!!

I have watched a few of the Polish meetings etc on PremierTV but apart from watching the form of a few riders they do nothing for me, I feel no passion for any Polish team lol

I am quite excited about the prospect of British Speedway streaming, particularly if the BSPL somehow have meetings streamed on a regular basis next year, would love to be able to watch Lynn's away meetings and I would certainly pay for the privilege .......

in the future I think £5 - £7.50 would be my limit for a streamed match, compare this to Eurosport, BT Sport or Premier Sports and it's poor value, and before anybody comes back to me explaining the costs involved, I know this and all I'm really interested in is the cost to myself.

Couldn't agree more but I suspect that taht might involve more common sense than we usually see from the BSPA ( pricewise ) as they prefer, it seems 500 - 800 people at £18 than, possibly double that at £10 - 12 . At more than a £1 a heat and with the certainty ( in  my experience ) of only 4 - 5 heats incolving real racing after turn two, lap one it has become poor VFM.

For me you just can't beat being there live, there's absolutely no comparison. It'll be interesting to see how the new streaming takes off for the BSPL, at the moment they seem to think that £13 is a fair price, I suppose market forces will decide what the price should be. For me that's far too much and only around a £5 saving on actually being there and having the "live" experience. I know there's other costs associated with attending a meeting but for me I'd often make a day of attending meetings further away from home and pull in some other local attraction. As a  one off I will be re-investing my £20 to watch this weekend's British Final as I've paid it out already and want to help them covering their costs as they've been done up like a kipper but in the future I think £5 - £7.50 would be my limit for a streamed match, compare this to Eurosport, BT Sport or Premier Sports and it's poor value, and before anybody comes back to me explaining the costs involved, I know this and all I'm really interested in is the cost to myself.

You would like to think the price would come down if they done it on a more regular basis. As a one-off event it wasn't a too bad a price. They can't charge that price for example if they were showing one every week imo.

You'd think each match would on average be watched by at least 2 people in the same household, in my case 3 of us watched the British Final so it worked out cheap as chips.

With the demise of speedway in the UK it might be just what the sport needs.  With plenty of back up material to keep people entertained during breaks etc it makes for a solid few hours of entertainment compared to freezing your bits off on the terraces waiting for an ambulance to come back or watching a tractor go around and nothing else to entertain you.

It's sad the sports come to this but I fear it's best days are behind it from a live point of view apart from the odd meeting like Cardiff or a Testimonial.

I thought the coverage was excellent, thoroughly professional, there was one tapes view that was a bit dodgy a few times but in the main 10/10, credit where it's due.

I’ve just read chris Louis talking about the restrictions they have to put in place to get fans back in stadiums, this is no way a slur on Chris or British speedway and what they are doing but I simply will not attend any speedway meetings while any restrictions of any kind are in place, I’m not going into the rights and wrongs of the covid stuff in this post but I go to speedway to socialise and enjoy the sport, I’m not go to be treated like a naughty little child, sorry I know it’s harsh on speedway and it’s 100% not their fault but it’s how I feel, I’m missing the social aspect of speedway as I am with other things I do but I can’t enjoy live speedway from the naughty step

You're obviously entitled to your opinion but I don't know why you'd cut your nose off to spite your face, I can't see how wearing a face mask and standing 2m away from somebody effects your ability to socialise and watch Speedway... do you like touching people?

Rules on things change all the time and you obviously weigh up the pros and cons on whether to keep doing whatever it is that the new rules effect.

I don't understand why you can't separate your enjoyment of Speedway and socialising and punish Speedway for it. If you felt that strongly about it you should be organising a revolution and not taking the easy way out of spitting your dummy out and complaining about it on a Speedway forum where nobody is going to see it and do anything about it

Your choice,  but if every speedway supporter had your attitude and was boycotting meetings then Clubs would soon fold up and there wouldn't be any Speedway to watch

I hope to be able to attend meetings soon, as I think the Clubs need support now more than ever ( and I wont be sulking about wearing a mask )

I have joined a revolution(if you want to call it that)although I am not going to protest marches as I think they are pointless, I posted on here because it’s a speedway forum and my point was about speedway, i have posted on other forums about other subjects, the situation is this you either object to these covid measures or speedway will be finished in this country as a professional sport, doesn’t matter if you believe in covid or not, even Godfrey can see it, things like football are only getting through this cause they have financial backers which are going to dry up eventually, they are worried and so should you be, speedway is a social event or at least it should be, take that away it’s just not speedway, IMO there is no point in league speedway without a crowd who are stood together and generally socialising, it’s just not the same, ask the riders or football players, they are still playing the same game but it’s just not the same as with a crowd

There isn’t going to be any professional speedway in Britain to watch unless we object to these restrictions

I get a lot of what you're saying but one thing is for sure not going to protests to try and get things changed and not going to Speedway is not going to save Speedway during these current times. Basically you're sitting back and punishing Speedway for the governments actions. It doesn't really matter whether I agree with you about whatever you think about Covid or not but if I understand you seem to think the way to get the government to change policy is to not go to Speedway? You say there is no point in Speedway without a crowd and I agree, I think that about any sport but you were saying that even if a crowd were allowed with "any restrictions" you still wouldn't attend because you didn't want to be on the naughty step... well you can't go to Speedway carrying a gun or wearing no clothes, or possessing drugs, they are all restrictions, for the good of society, I'm guessing you don't have any problems with these so why should you with a face mask or 2m distancing, for a short while until things are under control?

A short while ?? I’m not getting into where all this is going on this on this topic as we have other topics for that, but this is here to stay for a good while yet, I will fight for my right to be a free person and so should you, I don’t want to see speedway suffer but unless we stop this nonsense it’s finished anyway

So you're going to fight for your right to be a free person by not going to Speedway and not going to any protests but by letting everybody know on a Speedway Forum that you won't be going to live Speedway? I think you may have been to your last Speedway for a while then
