Gazc 7,093 Posted September 10, 2017 (edited) Glasgow still have Workington at home but given that all these outstanding fixtures have no chance of being completed it makes little difference. In-fact with the Weather forecast up here for this week it appears little chance of any other fixtures being completed any time soon. Which begs the question fixture planning or the lack of it in June, July & to a lesser extent August has been nothing short of shocking. slyfox 97 Posted September 11, 2017 Looking at the fixtures teams have the following meeting left Sheffield points so far 77 Home Edinburgh Home Ipswich Home Redcar (18th September) Away Berwick Away Newcastle (to Be confirmed) Maximum finishing points 94 Ipswich points so far 73 Away Glasgow Away Sheffield Maximum finishing points 81 Edinburgh points so far 64 Home Glasgow Away Sheffield Away Workington Maximum finishing points 75 Glasgow points so far 63 Home Ipswich Home Redcar Home Peterborough Away Edinburgh Away Workington ( 23rd September) Maximum finishing points 80 Redcar points so far 59 Away Glasgow Away Newcastle Away Sheffield ( 18th September) Maximum finishing points 71 There is a lot of meetings between the top 5, if the cut point is the 17th September it would be good idea to at least extend the date by one date to give all teams a chance to complete meetings. Looks like the cut off is 18th as Edinburgh and Redcar media are quoting that. Which would mean Redcar would get all their meetings in (barring rain off's) and Edinburgh and Glasgow would not as it stands.
northyorksbear 610 Posted September 11, 2017 Logic says that as Sheffield are running on an off night to get this fixture in that it will count towards the play off positions. However, if the cut off is the day before, then that is when it is, no point complaining and saying special dispensation should be issued, it would just lead to other teams wanting deadline extending by 2, 3, 4 days to get their last meeting in. the problem is the reluctance to get meetings on, I assume to non availability of key riders during the "regular season" Always amazes me how clubs can suddenly ride on all sorts of different nights when they need to get fixtures completed, yet can't (or won't) ride on a regular slot when no pressure on! this isn't a dig at any specific club, as all are generally guilty, (although some more than others!!) I do have some sympathy for Sheffield, Ipswich & Redcar as Thursday tracks and all vying for play off positions and when the scheduled meetings are postponed (on several occasions) due to adverse weather! RS50 359 Posted September 11, 2017 Sheffield's away match at Newcastle was called off in April. IMPOSSIBLE TO RE-ARRANGE A MATCH IN 5 MONTHS?????. Any reason why Sheffield could not have ridden against Edinburgh on either July 6 or August 3rd?? Hope Thursday's double header does start 7.15 as advertised not with an excuse about nearby traffic or a parade but tapes up 7.15. Also concerned that if Sheffield and Ipswich are running /R/R (not sure about this yet) will mean further delays.
Gavan 5,050 Posted September 11, 2017 Stop the league now and just plan the semi finals. Sheffield v Edinburgh Ipswich v Glasgow
Moranboys 411 Posted September 11, 2017 don't quite understand the curfew ruling for the double header on thursday.thought it was 10.00pm end of or has special dispensation been allowed because of this.if curfew is 10.00pm then with a start time of nine for the ipswich meeting and also the 15 min earlier start for both meetings, ther is no way that the ipswich meeting will be concluded or am i wrong? spanner47 336 Posted September 11, 2017 There isn't really a curfew at most tracks that must be adhered to, it's just there so a promoter can save money when he wants too. At Ipswich there's been a few occasions when the music and talking has stopped but the racing continued. If 10 heats have been concluded by 22-00 the curfew will kick in, but guess what will happen if only 8 heats have been completed?

Cue Ball 416 Posted September 11, 2017 The curfew is alive and kicking at Owlerton- fairly sure Bates made reference to it having to be adhered to and the pre-season news conference thing they did. We've had meetings finish for 9pm with an interval - so 1.5hrs to run. Start 15mins early, only grade the track after 7 heats, don't allow any messing about for choosing riders for heat 15, tell the ref to keep things moving at a pace and pray that there are no crashes! BILKO 38 Posted September 11, 2017 Not 100% but don't clubs get fined for any fixtures not run. Hence Kings Lynn riding against Rye house this Wednesday.
