Scunthorpe Scorpions V Edinburgh Monarchs ( S G B Championship) - Sunday, September 10th (5.30pm)

Recommended Posts

Get in massive 4 points! Thanks to Ritchie Worrall for guesting and putting in a great performance.

Special mention has to go to Mitchell Davey fantastic performance from him and hopefully that'll give him a huge confidence boost for the remainder of the season.

3 points at home to the old enemy on Friday should confirm our place in the play offs

Guest Scunny2012

Congratulations to Edinburgh on a brilliant comeback a well deserved 4 points, once again Scunny's failure to cover heats 13/15 highly exposed again, if Scunny run next year wholesale team changes will have to be made, would be great if Thomas Jorgensen could be tempted back along with Jake Allen and a fit again Stephen Nielsen and some more new faces.

Well done everyone at Scunny today to get the meeting on and keep it going and well done to the riders of both teams who just got on with it in far from ideal conditions.

Why was Jake Allen not in heat 15 ?

His injury was a little sore so he sat it out.and a fine home debut it was from him to,certain Home riders could learn a thing or two

I dont mind getting beaten by better teams, despite not such a successfull season ive still quite enjoyed my speedway this year but.......when supporters pay their £15 to go in they expect riders to try

Yesterday i saw pain an simple, riders not trying and riders giving up, no ifs or buts, that was fact, the club and its fans deserve better ,alot better

and would it be possible to have a home meeting where Tero`s bike doesnt break down?

Well done to the Monarachs on a fine win

Very difficult conditions for the riders to ride in with heat times some 6 seconds slower than normal. Rob said it was a meeting of 2 halves & he hit the nail on the head, gating. The first half of the meeting, once you had gated or in front exiting bend 2 that was it, filling in everyone behind. The 2nd half, Edinburgh gated & couldn't be caught resulting in some riders giving up either from bike getting filled in, thus not performing or riders getting filled in thus not seeing where they were going.

The attendance looked poor, maybe due to the weather forecast but another loss does not bode well for next Sunday or for the, hopeful, increase the following Friday.

Having, basically, 4 heat leaders that can't average 7 shows our inconsistency this season with Wilko, as he put it in the SS this week, the scapegoat. He rode to his 5-6 point average expected of him & it is the top 1-4 that should carry the blame, or part of it.

What a home debut for Allen, hats off young man to perform manoeuvres like he did especially in heat 8 when he rode the outside into bend 3, cutback at the apex, straighten the bike up, got the speed straight away to pass Pickering was a scene I have not seen for a very long while. Kenni Larsen did a similar move back in '09 or '10 showing excellent bike control. You see similar cutbacks from Tai in the GP's when he is in gates 3 or 4, cannot get round the outside so cuts back entering bend 1 at the start of races. Good to see bike & throttle control.

Though Briggo's phenomenal mandatory hyper-expensive dirt deflectors were meant to do away with riders being filled in?

In Mitchell's previous incarnation as a Tiger , Scunthorpe was one of the tracks he rode very well . I remember him scoring double figures there one night for us , beating Magnus Karlsson along the way . Glad the boy had a decent meeting .

Well done to Edinburgh on a well-deserved win.

But yet another meeting thrown away by Scunny. The only bright spot was a brilliant performance by Jake Allen. How well did he do, and he's not even 100% fit yet!

You couldn't fault Josh Auty for effort.

Elsewhere, it was the same old story. Too many engine problems; too many indifferent rides when the heat was on.

All the best

Rob
