spanner47 336 Posted September 13, 2017 Maybe teams that don't complete fixtures should have points deducted... Problem is, sometimes one team wants to ride and the other one doesn't. Would be harsh to penalise a team when others are refusing to ride them.

dontforgetthefueltapsbruv 10,706 Posted September 13, 2017 I mean the home team loses points.would that be fair on say Sheffield if this Thursday against the Witches is rained off for the 3rd time. I dont think it would.
tyretrax 2,253 Posted September 13, 2017 I mean the home team loses points. So what if it's the away team who are refusing the fixture? That wouldn't be fair.
Baldyman 6,243 Posted September 13, 2017 Maybe teams should try racing every week, instead of having loads of blank dates, which are normally during the summer, when it's best for speedway.
2ndbendbeerhut 1,781 Posted September 13, 2017 If a club can't fit in fixtures.. then tough! There's enough weeks during the season
spanner47 336 Posted September 13, 2017 Look at our situation with Edinburgh. If someone had told us we've got to go there the previous Friday then we'd have gone with Connor Mountain, 5 guests and R/R. Nobody is saying it's easy, but someone in charge (with power) would certainly make life easier. And don't forget, we're lucky at Ipswich, it hardly ever rains here on a Thursday. Fromafar 10,359 Posted September 13, 2017 No real need for awarding fixtures, just make them ride in the first place. Surely the promoters must see the problems we do, but we know the solution, but they do nothing about it. The K.O. cup is the one that always gets me, bloody obvious the teams in the play offs are likely to be the same as the ones in the latter stages of the cup, but still we wait and wait for the cup to be sorted every year. but it's obvious that the BSPA are turning a blind eye to the situation and not wanting to upset each other. There has to be a rule introduced to make they get on with it.They couldn't run a raffle nowadays.

Maybe every side should have a set quota of matches per month with early season a vital time and not for meaningless meetings . Perhaps it would be a good idea to start the season with the knock cup and then straight on to league racing, all meetings should maybe scheduled to take place by mid august thus leaving 2 weeks to allow for postponements to be reorganised , any team's that don't complete there fixtures by the end of August by means of fines for non-compliance thus making teams much keener to fit in rearrangements . Our half of the cup draw was done and dusted before league racing started I thought.
spanner47 336 Posted September 13, 2017 Anyway, back to this meeting. Forecast still showing showers, I assume it all depends on how heavy they are.

Grand Central 2,654 Posted September 13, 2017 (edited) What is just as infuriating is that the original fixture was cancelled first thing on Sunday morning. When the forecast was much better than it is today. And on that original date we only had a shower later in the day when the racing would have been all but over. Sometimes we keep digging a bigger and bigger hole for ourselves to clamber out from. Edited September 13, 2017 by Grand Central
