Scunthorpe Scorpions 2018

Recommended Posts

Although the Ipswich 2 pointers averaged 4.57(Hume) 4.51(Greaves) and 3.33(Mountain) so wouldve still been a match for the pair with higher starting figures...

My post was based on the make up of teams at the start of the season.

Depending on which reserves you choose in 2018, with us having 7.54 remaining, I would prefer riders of Hume(bargain at 2.00) & Aarnio rather than Perks & Bowtell. although Jacobs & Bailey could improve.

Hume & Phillips should be on everyone's radar, though.

Hume will surely be back at Ippo? Definitely hot property at the moment though. Phillips might be a little under the radar being out injured for so long and there are always question marks over a rider when making comebacks from nasty spills.

Definitely think Jacobs & Bailey could be a very solid reserve pairing

Jacobs was looking for teams on Twitter only a couple of days ago, so unlikely to be him with Rob seemingly having a plan in place.

Won't be long before aunty and garrity are putting each other through the fence.

dont you mean you are really hoping that happens?

just glanced through late delivery of SS & it seems like probably no Aarnio or Bailey. But then again, where's the "frog"? Probably a change in his thinking when other riders became available

Looks like Mr Godfrey is really going for it.

Will be interesting to see how the Scunthorpe speedway general public respond to big changes and what looks like a massive cash investment on a very exciting team so far.

There are a lot of big characters and managing this team could be tough, and I think if they have one weakness it is the fact that some of key riders have been very injury prone and that could be their downfall.

But they must be in with a better chance of been in the mix more than recent seasons.

Am I missing something here ,it was only 2 weeks ago fans from other sides were saying we won't run,Godfrey is in trouble etc,etc .Well if we're in trouble it ain't been a bad few days with a superb top 5 been named with only the reserves to be named and we're complete.Glad to see lakeside back in too ,good luck to our old riders in pastures new hope it doesn't rain on race days for some of them or some will pull a face and throw a paddy fit. Here's hoping we start well and more people come through the gate and repay robs investment bring on March and start time and smell that methanol

Now that is a top five to get excited about

A bona fide #1 in Steve Worrall - who has gone from strength to strength and can easily add a point

Josh Auty is Mr Scunthorpe and due a good high scoring season I reckon

Jason Garrity is another out and out racer - he is fast and can win anywhere and score well - Keeping him on the bike is the key - but certainly on a good average

Jake Allen will have been on many a wish list - particularly on such a low average - he can add 2 at least to that methinks

Stefan Nielsen is another class act and scores very well

2 to come - can't wait ! - Well done Rob & Team Scunny - Roll on March 2018 - haven't been so positive and anticipated in a long while

One thins is for certain that top five can bag big points at the EWR and win races and hopefully matches away from home and make us contenders for any trophy

So much for Berge. Cracking line up so far. This will probably bring the best out in Auty who won't have the pressure to ride at 1 or 5.

Very good top five for Scunny - they will be relying on Auty, Allen and Nielsen to add but they should and even Garrity has room and we know Worrall won't lose - so yeah, a nice looking side indeed.

Reading the Star Rob says that the remaining two places won't be filled by any one from last seasons line up. So no Bailey or Aarnio. Think we have to be ruthless it's a great top 5 and we should maximise our option for the 6th rider with 5.65 to play with if we went for a 2ptr at 7.? US World Cup rider Gino Manzeres on 5.43 would really top things off. He's a rider who could step up and challenge the top five. Difficult to see any other team coming up with a stronger 1-6 than that?. I don't think it matters then who takes the 2ptr rides Jordan Jenkins Mildenhall might be worth a punt? Happy Days.

Manzares as a number 6 would be awesome, especially considering theres no weak link to drop down.
