Fozzie4388 679 Posted March 4, 2018 (edited) I wouldn't be concerned about Scunthorpe not naming their number 7. In 2002 Hull Vikings didn't name their number 7 till everyone turned up at the press and practice day. Although I hope for Scunthorpe's sake it's not David Speight like it was for Hull Edited March 4, 2018 by Fozzie4388

"Ladies and gentlemen, and now we have some exciting news, i'm sure you are all happy with how our team has been assembled, so without further delay, i would like to present to you the final member of our team........ Please give a warm welcome to...... David Speight". ..David brings with him a wealth of experience from over the years, and we are confident the former Owlerton track specialist can transfer some of this track knowledge to his new home here at Scunthorpe. The Scorpions were all but nailed on to sign Hot shot Saul Bulley but a late decision by Saul to pull out and pursue a career at Halfords threw the Scorpions into disarray. They were then 50/50 and undecided between Speight and fellow National League high flier Andy Mellish, however it was the latter who got the nod from Scorpions bosses after hours of discussions and negotiations. A full press conference is scheduled for Tues 6th March @ 10:15am.

Tosh1218 592 Posted March 5, 2018 Newcastle with nearly 13.5 pts for two team places aren’t going to use a rider on a two point average leaving over 11 pts for a number one as they won’t be competitive . They will build with an 8 pt rider and 3.5 pt for the reserve I expect

You could always tell the teams with all of it's riders signed, as they were desperate for say 43 or 45 points. Glum faces and urgent phone calls when it was voted to have 42.50
IronScorpion 1,407 Posted March 9, 2018 Just hours to go before we "meet the riders" at the EWR & hoping the turnout to be decent as we need to show the riders that we will support them. My view of how they could perform on track follows Worrall as our no1 will probably drop 0.5 due to NOT having a track advantage like Edinburgh & Newcastle Nielsen probably at 2 riding with Steve 3 times will keep his average or up it slightly Auty at no3 or 4 should up his average having sorted his demons out &, hopefully, learning how to gate better Allen at 3 or 4 I am hoping for an improvement in his average having the stability of riding at the same tracks as last year Garrity at 5 to get near his form when he rode for Sheffield & up his average to around the 8 point mark Manzares at 6 could get big scores by having more rides but riding with Garrity twice & if the others do their stuff, his extra ride might be off our no7 ??????? at 7 if he can minimize his last places then it shouldn't be too bad but no expectations expected with the other 6 There could be some big wins at home if they all click but good racing & not a lot of "FTG" is expected at the EWR. I notice other tracks are now widening their bends for multi line racing & excitement similar to our home
