I wouldn't say Garrity had a bad season last year at all. He missed out on some big home scores due to not riding at Sheffield but wasn't any weaker away! beaky11 36 Posted April 7, 2018 A cracking start to the season for the scorpions last night, Paid max's for Josh, Stevie and Stefan and a full max from Garrity and he also becomes our asset. Gutting to hear the news about stevie with a double leg break, hopefully he will be back quickly as sounds like he was a great captain and great for team spirit which he hopefully still can be from the sidelines but not good not having him on track. Be interesting to see what we choose to do with regards to replacing him while he is injured, if we go for guest cover got the choice of anyone in the league apart from Nicholls or do we try get a temporary replacement in such as Kennett to cover for him? Having Howarth guesting at home wouldn't be a bad option always goes well at the EWR. Hopefully Stevie will be back sooner rather than later though and wish him a speedy recovery! Panthers89 1,922 Posted April 7, 2018 Be interesting about replacements for Stevie, as looking at Newcastle’s piss poor lineup, a real number one must be hard to find?

I can't believe how weak Newcastle look maybe they will do better than most anticipate over the years winning at Newcastle has been really tough this year teams will fancy there chances. Really really sorry to hear about Steve Worrall. Top riders are at a premium in the Championship this year and to lose one this early in the season is a real bummer. The issue of guests raises a really important issue. With the doubling-up policy on one hand and riders' overseas commitments on the other, there is a danger that riders will simply end up running themselves into the ground. Mention of Kyle Howarth is a case in point. As well as his commitments to Sheffield and Wolves he's also doing a stint in Poland. If he starts getting invited to do guest slots elsewhere, the issue of "burnout" becomes a serious possibility. At Sheffield we've had more than our fair share of injured riders in recent years and, remarkably, most of them seem to get injured whilst riding for teams other than Sheffield. I'd welcome the day when Championship and Premiership combine into a single league and this doubling-up farce is consigned to the annals of history.
sharpandroid 88 Posted April 8, 2018 (edited) After seeing the team and how well they all did, could replacement be enough. Bearing in mind that Jake had issues in his first couple and so will score more next time, Danny and Gino will get up to speed, Stephan, Jason and Josh were unbeaten. IronScorpion 1,399 Posted April 8, 2018 (edited) A quick read of the rules, and this area is in bold so is new this year, is that you can use a guest rider from any league provided that rider is in a declared 1-7. The 1.3 conversion must be applied between the 2 leagues if he does not have an average for that league. This means, if available through visa or other racing commitments, we could, theoretically, use Kildemand at home & Kasprkak away. We just miss out on using R Lambert or M Fricke for home meeting by 0.01 & 0.02 respectively. Edited April 8, 2018 by IronScorpion

You'd just need at least an extra 500 fans to turn up to pay for them......
