The Haderslev Motor Sport Association was founded on 7 June 1945 with Kaj Boilesen as chairman. The club's purpose was to race with motorcycles, cars and speedway bikes. In 1946 the club opened the Bøghoved course and drove it until the closure in 1967.

Then it was decided to set a new lane at Skovby some kilometers southwest of Haderslev. The club was already a few years before starting work on this project, but the necessary permits were only given in 1966.
