00000 1,279 Posted September 30, 2017 What sanctions were levelled against clubs for picking and choosing if they want to ride: What penalties did: Lakeside receive for pulling out of the KO Cup; King's Lynn YS receive for pulling out of the KO Cup; King's Lynn YS for pulling out of the league; King's Lynn YS for failing to complete their fixtures the year before? woofers 467 Posted September 30, 2017 From the 2017 regulations 19.9.4 It is mandatory for riders to appear in the NDL 4TT, NDL BP and NDLRC; riders will be suspended from their next 2 Home Meetings in contravention, subject to MC confirmation. You'd think the BSPA people might have pointed this out when he got in touch to say he would have to withdraw. Any other riders been penalised by this rule over the years ? Twowheels 51 Posted September 30, 2017 (edited) Jake had informed the relevant people at Belle Vue the night before, at no time was he informed of the potential ban. It was only when he received a text on Wednesday to inform him of the 2 meeting ban.Totally Genuine in what he thought was the action to take without time to sort replacement engines. brianbuck 928 Posted September 30, 2017 I notice that Knight's name did not appear in the Eastbourne team for their away match against Cradley Heath last Wednesday (which was rained off as it happens). Perhaps there was a genuine reason for this, but more and more riders are jumping on the "ride when I please" bandwaggon, and it is not acceptable and wouldn't be tolerated in any other professional sport.

diamond_ren 209 Posted September 30, 2017 (edited) Surely Jack Holder should serve a ban too? Just let someone who is clearly using British speedway as a stepping stone in his career do what he wants yet punish an English rider yeah nice one bspa, scb whoever made the decision. The inconsistency is ridiculous in British speedway Edited September 30, 2017 by ren

The riders all get paid - so whether the BSPA or anyone else likes it or not - it's professional! (Although you would never believe it the way it is run!!!!) That really is the point here. Despite numerous withdrawals over the years, I have never heard of anyone suffering similar punishment. Star Lady 5,400 Posted October 1, 2017 Connor Dugard states on the Eastbourne website that other riders had 'certificates' that allowed them to be absent. Which strengthens the case for any certificate to have a minimum period of 3 days.
