mikebv 10,235 Posted October 3, 2017 (edited) Not a bad meeting, not a great meeting but came across ok on the box.. Nice to see Swindon built their own little 'Karlsson corridor' off turn two which the Wolves lads used often..!! Track was very slick in places, unfortunately for Swindon it appeared to be in places where they expected to find grip! It often looked when in front that that they rode a line they usually would without even considering where the opposition were, (as so confident of getting drive) and found themselves getting passed underneath.. Howarth proved there was grip but very, very wide. A great ride from him.. Not over though I would say due to the missing point machines that are Lindgren and Thorssell... Given how both are such Monmore specialists, off their usual ten rides you would expect them to rattle in 25 or so. Therefore a return of around 15/16 (not unrealistic) off their programmed rides on Wednesday by their replacements, will still give Swindon some hope as neither will obviously be in heat fifteen.. Depends if Doyle goes through the card I reckon. And that will depend if he hasn't got more than one eye on the GP... foreverblue 6,079 Posted October 3, 2017 Yet Schlein went 3rd to 1st in Heat 14.... He was never going to beat Morris or Doyle in heat 15 but he had a good night overall as did all the Wolves riders.

Wolfsbane 12,944 Posted October 3, 2017 The same issue confronts Wolves tomorrow that confronted Swindon yesterday. Expectation, and how you deal with it.
foreverblue 6,079 Posted October 3, 2017 Tatum pointed out before the meeting that Ronnie Russell had prepared the track with grip inside and outside and slick in the middle so did nobody from Swindon walk the track or they just thought they only had to turn up to win. They can say it was different from normal but they didnt think we need to ride where the Wolves riders were riding. Rosco and the team were complacent he even said on tv they wernt excited but very relaxed. Overall not a bad meeting with a couple of good battles and some good passes. The same issue confronts Wolves tomorrow that confronted Swindon yesterday. Expectation, and how you deal with it. I think we know Wolves wont lose it, Swindon will have to win it, Adams wont let that happen. He got them right on it from the start and when a team is massive underdogs that helps too.

I don't think the track had much to do with it. Wolves were just so much more up for it. Jason Doyle as much as admitted in his interview at the end that they though twit would be easy whereas Wolves came fully up for a fight.

Agree with that but also riders off form at the wrong time, i thought that would even out as Masters and Howarth were not great at Belle Vue in the semi but they were the difference last night. dj350z 2,266 Posted October 3, 2017 Wolves without Lindgren and Thorsell Would be nowhere near as strong as Poole. With very limited choice of guest and r/r it will be a stroll in the park for Swindon. It really has just been handed to the robins on a plate. All they have to do is turn up. Seriously. What a shame the grand final has now turned into the biggest anti climax the sport has seen since the inception of the playoffs. Your predictions don't get any better do they Steve?! BluTiger 21,661 Posted October 3, 2017 It was Rosco's job to make sure his team was not complacent, and clearly he failed big time. Adams on the other hand did his job superbly yet again, and Wolves won't let this slip as they chase back to back titles...
Steve Shovlar 10,439 Posted October 3, 2017 (edited) Your predictions don't get any better do they Steve?!Show me where you or anyone else predicted differently. Its been summed up elsewhere. Rosco laughing and joking talking on the mic to the crowd just before the meeting. Doyle admitting afterwards they thought it would be easy. Complacency got Swindon big time. They should have won at a canter but blew up. They should have been on their A game, not their C. Wolves were in the right place mentally and physically. But with that lineup, if Swindon had properly prepared in all aspects before the meeting they should have had a healthy lead to take to Monmore tomorrow. Riss overtook Museilak for gods sake! OK he fell but it shows the difference between the two teams attitude. Edited October 3, 2017 by Steve Shovlar

Aces51 2,778 Posted October 3, 2017 Interesting tweet from Craig Cook after heat 3, "Going to stick my neck on the line and say Wolves are going to run Swindon close, track looks very inviting for an away rider."
