Averages and the asset system is killing the sport.

What is is these days to loan another teams rider????? Can't be cheap. Sometimes it's cheaper to fly in an untried foreigner for them to become as asset of the club.

Agree, however without averages would we not see a huge gulf in the UK between teams. Surely Poole, Swindon and Wolves would have better teams just simply that they have more wealth than other teams.

do me a favour buddy and read the thread and posts properly!!

Mr Shovlar said that Jacobs isnt good enough to ride in the top flight. Quite obviously that is total rubbish as his average of over 5 in a harder league proves.

Yes nobody has signed him as his average is probably to high to get a place in the top flight and if you read things you would realise he wants to ride in both leagues as he cant afford to just ride in one.

Im fighting no losing battle ....just your inability to read and understand things

Shovlar is right. Jacobs isn't good enough to ride in the Premiership.

Not about his average clubs haven't signed him because he can only score points around the NSS in the Premiership.

Jacobs had to rely on people getting injured in the 2nd tier in the past to get a team spot.

Think the biggest problem is that 260 foreign riders have been given assessed averages, some being reduced, to help them get a side in England this year, but Jacobs, Grieves & Perks are stuck with their old averages. What's happened to helping British riders ?

So one minute You're saying its nothing to do with Jacob's average ,

then you're agreeing with a post saying riders like Grieves , Perks and Jacob's are stuck with their old averages ?

So are the likes of Morley, Morris,Greaves,Davey, Ayres , any better than Joe? i think not Speedway is a numbers game we all know that and Jacobs has been punished for that.Jacobs has proved he is good anough for Premiership/Championship racing just a shame that. he should be cast aside like that.

I am agreeing to the post in general about British riders not being able to get team places. Not just reserves.

Jacobs wouldn't get a team place period because he isn't good enough. Simple as that really.

Morris & Greaves are much better. Ayres & Morley are better.

Davey only has a place at Swindon because they ran out of points to play with otherwise he would have been left without a job.

Jacobs isn't good enough and Promoters know it. Otherwise he would be offered team places when the team building starts not half way through the season when riders get injured.

Gavan trying to fight a losing battle again.

Jacobs has been forced into retirement because no club wants him and that's the truth I'm afraid.

Gavan is right. He has been forced into it.

A 5.14 average IS good enough. So yours and Shovlar's point of view has already  been shown up to be nonsense.

He had a 4.35 average riding for Wolves in 2014. 4.36 at home 4.34 away.

Given a regular team place it could be different story. Sadly his career has been so stop start we will never know how he might have progressed.

Another Brit forced into retirement due to the ridiculous 5.20 average given to new foreigners in the Championship and the even more pathetic so called reassessing for some and not others in the top flight.

Some have already got a leg up due it this season. And NO, it's not a personal attack on Poole.  I'd say the same if ANY clubs signed riders on OLD averages that are no longer valid.

Nope because as I have said he is good around the NSS. He's a one track pony. Unless he signed for BV then he is one of the worst signing's a top flight club could possibly make.

Joe Jacobs is good around the NSS and that's why his average is 5.14. Anywhere else you might as well turn up with a 6 man team because Jacobs is that bad.

4.67 2nd tier average isn't even a high average tbh and Promoters don't want him because he's no good and they know it.

Bit like Poole asset Perks. Nobody wants him either.

Still, let's bring foreigners over on a 5.20 average and ensure some British riders who want to ride can't.

Only in British speedway as per usual.

Joe Jacobs can't make doing one league pay. There are second tier clubs that wanted him but he also needed a team in the top flight.

He is sensational at the NSS and I agree that no other top flight top team would take him on that average.

He has been the victim of his own success as his average is to high.

Still its good to see the chuckle brothers , Shovlar and MattFordFan showing that they still have opinions that are polar opposite to the rest of the forum bless them
