Peterborough Panthers 2018

Recommended Posts

As a Panthers fan now for 18 years, I really don't know whats going on? You look at social media and the local press saying for us "not to panic" but all the time iv been watching speedway, Panthers have never left it this late to complete a team. With all the talk going going on with other riders etc, I'm not surprised fans feel the way they do. We should be told something and not wait around for what if's.I really don't get why Peterborough find it hard to sign people? are we really that bad in the sport that no one wants to ride for us? Lets face it though no matter what team they put together if they don't get the supporters and the crowds to watch speedway at Peterborough whats the point!

Nothing to say Rodders. The worst kept secret will be communicated in due course as the local comic says today:

"the city club have finally completed their 2018 line-up . . . but they can’t go public yet."

"Panthers had struck a deal with seven-time British champion Scott Nicholls, but he was then blocked from racing by new BSPA guidelines. That left both parties in limbo, but speculation in the sport now suggests the rule blocking Nicholls from joining the club is in the process of being overturned. It is thought he will occupy one of the two remaining spaces in the Panthers side with a reserve rider completing the order."

Absolutely disgusting if its true , how the hell can they justify the overturn when Lakeside were unable to sign them at the start of the season.. or any other team for that matter,. to be honest I don't think Nicholls or Kennett are that amazing these days anyway...complete farce

On the one hand “Yes”, rules should be rules; on the other hand common sense suggests that the promoters should realise that Scot and Eddie will be good for the CL and Jon Cook should support the move in anticipation of next year’s team building!

Never mind next year's team building , those promoters should also take into consideration that should any of there top riders get seriously injured in the season ahead they may well be looking for a replacement top rider themselves in 2018 .So as much as they feel aggrieved it could also be of benefit to them.

Would you be saying the same if it was say ipswich wanting a rule overturned cos chris Louis mucked team building up.

Not sure if you are replying to my statement , but if you are the same rule would apply to all teams should they suffer injuries no matter whichever team involved .

Will Ged turn up at tomorrows supporters club event to bring us up to date at the latest non news?. Looks like a total balls up to me. His admission that Panthers can't compete financially with the rest seems to be totally true'. A total shambles made worse by the deafening silence from the management.

Until this is sorted by the BSPA/SCB,  Ged cannot do anything about it, its gone on so long now the BSPA, have been trying to find any reason not to have this decision overturned as the last one was ,  this stupid rule is not  just about Panthers it effects british riders allowing, Ausies, and other foreign riders, some are higher averages than Scotty and Kennett, ( some who also ride abroad )to earn extra money in England  and these two stalwarts of English league cannot,  total injustice and totally wrong

Let's hope a team now drops a foreigner and Eddie gets a team place somewhere.

Won't he be at Newcastle?

If not over to you Panthers to be brave and bold and make a change or two for the better
