stevebrum 6,820 Posted October 6, 2017 Unfortunately it seems you chose the wrong guest on Wednesday, probably in hindsight Nicholls may have been better, by using Nicholls tonight I am assuming he will be the guest of choice for the cup, I remember Nicholls guesting for Poole at Monmore and he was excellent. Nicholls has been decidedly average at the Green this year. We just have to avoid scoring less than 28 points tonight. We should be able to do that. Is all you can say, adding that Swndon did well but not great as they beat a severely weekend Wolves team by 1 point on agg, if Swindon were missing Doyle & Morris, reckon they would have got a pasting. Though If Doyle & Morris AND Lindgren & Thorsell were all missing, the Premier play offs would have been Premier / Championship Select V Premier / Championship Select. Would Arsenal have won the FA Cup had the referee spotted a Harlem Globetrotter was on the pitch? If England could take penalties would they have won a major tournament? But Swindon scored more points in the play offs and topped the regular league so there's that. Doyle - probably, the rest - dunno don't follow ball game sports. Maybe Harlem Globetrotter refs shoud be randomly introduced to all sports, . Came up in conversation last nite: is the sport running out of riders a bit, seems like it..... The very same 'never say die' attitude shown by Wolves in the first leg of the final came to the fore for Swindon that night. It's not so straight forward. Everyone predicted that Wolves riding at Swindon without Lindgren and Thorssell, would get a pasting. They never. Swindon were a side that refused to be beaten for a long stretch of the season. They seemed to lose that once nobody could finish above them in the table. In the second leg, they summoned that same spirit back up. Both meetings seemed to show the fighting spirit of the apparent underdog. It was a great final. I meant if Wolves still had Lindgren & Thorsell availble but Swindon were missing Doyle & Morris, Wolves would almost certainly have won. Not only very rare event, but it also happened in Sweden where underdogs Smederna put in an astounding performance to conquer Elit Vetlanda after losing the first leg at home.
