Hope Doyley brings it home with plenty to spare.

I agree but now the situation has become ridiculous.

Maybe he'll get a series wild card for 2018 and sponsorship from Monster. 😀

Waytogo has summed it up. Watt deserves no place in this field as he officially retired leaving both his UK & Polish team.

I hope he enjoys his comeback for one meeting, rides safely but this is an important GP not a benefit meeting.

Who said that he won't race in aussie , just because he left England & Polska? Kurtzy & JH probably should be in the meeting, BUT they didn't beat the old timer when it mattered at the aussie's.

Too true. In this year's Aussie series about nine months ago David Watt out-rode and out-scored Batchelor, Morris, Fricke, Kurtz, Tungate and Holder over four meetings on four different tracks.

Just because he dropped off the European scene this summer doesn't mean he didn't qualify to the Etihad.

Bourke you summed it up, it was 9 months ago. Long time ago.

If he is capable of that kind of form - when in the mood, we are in for a great night's racing with Watt involved in a lot of dramatic heats. Or trailing in at the back, which is more likely.

5 Aussies in the last GP when the leading contender is an.....Aussie. The more Aussies there are the better the chance of THE Aussie getting enough points to win the title.

Now how that is a boost for Aussie speedway. Not only 5 Aussies in the GP taking place in Aussie, but the opportunity of the first time an Aussie has been crowned world champion on his own soil.

Be interesting how the "other 4" score against Doyle compared to how they score against Dudek. If they get half a chance they going to beat Dudek but not the Aus.

Not so sure Holder will be willing to gift Doyley anything especially with fighting for top 8 or attempting to lay down a marker re nominated spots next year guess it may depend at what point of meeting he meets Jason and whether he has any realistic chance of progressing to semis etc but Sedgman and Watt should be relatively easy prey and surely Masters will not bust a guy to beat him with no point in trying to prove anything won't reach final or be even considered for next year ..someone made the remark may as well hand Doyle title now rather disrespectful seeing as though if he clinches it this will be a well earndt victory

Dudek gets out in front of any of the Aussies - Doye included, they arent getting a sniff of him...

Dudek CAN do that, but maybe a different thing when under pressure.

AND on a relatively small track where some throttle control comes in handy rather than the full gas for four laps approach.

Okay I will bite.

The wild card being an incentive for the Aussie champ is a given and none is criticising that . Its Masters.

The back up for any other rider is nothing to do with the staging authority it is part of last years challenge finishing positions.

There is only 1 Aussie worthy of the Grand Prix and that is Doyley. The others haven't done enough to qualify or stay in.

At no point should the three other Aussies be in there.

The organisers should have told Iversen and co to make their mind up before shipping date as a deadline to give the genuine next in line people time to send their gear.

As a footnote on current form they should have picked the inform Aussie to fill in for their balls up and left Watt at reserve for the nostalga, but they need to get it right or rename next years the Aussie Champs and have all 16 places. Then they can fit Crumpy, Pooley, Johno, Langdons etc as they all missed out on a nostalgic gp place

ITs been explained why he is in. Im not sure how many more times or different ways it can be explained. Its rhe same way the British wildcard at Cardiff is chosen.

It has been "explained" but the explanation is wrong. The Aus titles were used to decide the wildcard and two meeting reserves, fine, great. What the Aus title was NOT for was to decide the series reserves for the final round. Watt can be a reserve thats up to MA/BSI/FIM but the replacement for Iversen should be the declared GP reserve riders. We have 6 of them now, so where are they all? And nobody give me the bullrubbish that they couldn't get there, BSI/FIM should be sending the series reserves out with the rest of the field, it's a World Championship, not a travelling circus.

Exactly- Max Fricke pulled out on the 10th October- fully 18 days before this GP. If the will from the FIM/BSI had been there he would have been replaced properly !!!!!
