At certain tracks the crowd may be up...Redcar for example.

And Swindon, but have no idea of elsewhere.

Ever if Jason does ride here the standard has got lower and lower overall in the last 20 years as have the crowds ...you must be the only person who thinks otherwise .

I didn't say that I thought otherwise but it's like Tai says, it's more dangerous on some of the tracks here and the money is less, that isn't necessarily all about reducing standards, it's more about having them reduced for you by other countries and by the fact that most clubs here use rented arena's, with that in mind I think we do well to get any GP riders. I used to be a regular at Bradford, they had a big continental style track, top riders, especially British ones, they were well publicised in the city and Odsal and nearby Halifax had tradition running back over decades. They won the league and closed! Despite some given reasons for that, the place was empty (embarrassingly so) by the time it closed. So raising standards might work but would it work enough to be viable, when you consider the costs? I don't see any great change, not because the promoters are useless but because doing what you can with what you've got, is a better option the closing down or becoming a Sunday afternoon amateur sport.

Certain people (riders?) keep saying that British tracks are more dangerous than elsewhere!! Where are the facts to back that up?

 

There have been far more serious and bad accidents on foreign tracks than in this country - ask Darcy Ward, NKI, Nicki Pedersen - or Jason Doyle for that matter.

I agree but you know what they're like at following each other, if someone gets a new fork cover they'll all want one.

Exactly. To think some would call some British tracks horror tracks!

There has been nowhere near the level of serious crashes as in Poland.

How about a finals day for both Premiership and Championship ? Mid September say - on a nuteral track two 15 heat semi final winners into the final over 15 heats - Premiership at Peterborough Championship at Belle Vue obviously not the same weekend so no to clash for double uppers - top 4 teams league winners chose who they want to race in the semi first semi 12 mid day start second semi to start 1 hour after heat 15 of 1st semi the final say 7 pm start - £25 admission 20%of gate admission money to each of the 4 clubs 20% to the host club but TV money to the 4 clubs competing. Just an idea crazy maybe but need fresh ideas and maybe think outside the box . Finals day works for T20 cricket different sport I no but it could make a great day .

The whole idea of getting to the final is not only the final. But its the revenue that you generate from having a final. I dont think sponsors would be happy when they are from Redcar for example but the final is held at Swindon. I understand your idea but just not for speedway.

the Championship finals day would need to be more northern based as most of the clubs are more northerly that’s why BelleVue would be a good choice of venue - Premiership finals day I thought Pboro as a venue - it only an idea I had today but it’s no more crazy than some of the stuff that’s come from the BSPA this season .

We would all love to see a top league here with Doyke, Dudek, Woffinden, Zmarzlik, Janowski, Sayfutdinov, Pawlicki, Laguta, Vaculik etc etc but it can't happen as we don't have the backing they have in Poland where sponsors pay six figure sums, crowds are in five figures, no track rental, regular fixtures, new stadiums with tracks built to race on with various fast lines and most importantly a fan base that doesn't have the likes of Horse Racing, Moto GP, Darts, Snooker, Cricket, Rugby etc etc to compete against.

 

Britain can't afford the top names and for the sake of the sport, this country really needs to get back to basics and form one league at Championship level that all current Premiership and Championship tracks can compete on an even footing. Yes that would mean another step of watering down the product but it would also mean every team would have two British reserves who can double up in the big league and National League. This is what doubling up should have been about, not giving riders the chance to be heat leaders in both current levels.

 

It also gives a more varied fixture list and not the same teams visiting twice in a matter of weeks plus tracks get to keep their own race nights. The proposed move to giving the Premiership set race nights of Monday and Thursday looks at first to be fine until you look into it and how it will work. It forces Ipswich and Sheffield to either move up or change race nights and forces the Premiership tracks to change race nights and one week will have a meeting at home on the Thursday and the next week on a Monday. Can fans make both nights and do Season Ticket holders realise it won't all be a Monday OR a Thursday at their track.

 

Every season they struggle to fit in the league fixtures before the play offs despite having 27 weeks to get them sorted but now want to get more fixtures done in just 54 days (27x2). They still want to employ the few riders on wages over £4,000 a night when we don't really need them when we could have a product built to build a new breed of home grown talent to the next level.

 

 

However they look set to continue with two leagues and make a few changes when all they are doing is papering over the cracks leaving a pretty picture but in reality the faults are still there and waiting to fall down completely

Agree with every point in your post, Incognito...

 

the focus should be on british riders.,,totally comitted in riding their bikes and can´t be honoured enough for their ability shown...

 

and their are enough foreign riders want´s to ride in britain without giving the promoters or anybody in the government any "good" advices how they should do the speedway business...

 

so back to basic and don´t overload the fixture list...because less can be often more !!!

Excellent idea here and others put forward on various threads. However it seems that almost everything is already decided and merely awaits the Rubber Stamp, so we know what we will get in 2018 is - More of the Same ( with a slight reshuffle of clubs in X league or B league ). There are no visionary thinkers within the BSPA who will bring about positive change and a revival of speedways fanbase. Only the collapse of what we currently have - due to lack of paying fans - will make the 8 or 10 clubs who survive the crash, come up with something like speedway racing which can attract new fans of dirt track racing in the UK. It's called "evolution".

Cant see it as likely that the 4000+ that turned up at Ipswich for the Grand Final home leg would all travel to BV for a finals day....

 

Even plenty of the 'die hard' fans wouldnt IMO

Well it's going to be a 41 point limit so yet again lowering the standard. This time by quite alot. This team ive perdicted for us shows it.

 

Bjerre

Cook

Worrall

Tungate

Bewley

Perks

Smith/bickley

 

That fits just under the 41 limit therefor swapping fricke for perks 😮😮

 

Will the admission reflect this

41 isn't lowering the standard by quite a lot. A point limit of 42 would maintain the standard at this year's level.
