Craig Cook - Off The Speedway Control Board's Xmas Card List

Recommended Posts

Is a period of enforced inactivity the same as a ban? Whatever. Either way, young Mr. Cook was in hot water again, for being ill on the day of the SCB/BSPA's prized event.

The Speedway Control Bureau have imposed Craig Cook a Period of Inactivity of 7 days due to withdrawing through illness from the SGB Riders Championship at Glasgow on Saturday 14th October.

Speedway Regulation 16.5.1 f) states that if a Rider is sick or carrying a non-speedway injury the Rider may only return within 7 days with the express permission of the Bspa Management Committee.

On this occasion Mr Cook has been given the period of inactivity of the 7 days , in the hope of getting a full recovery from his illness.

Unfortunately due to this inactivity Mr Cook will miss Belle Vue Cup Final against Wolverhampton on Monday 16th October, and Workington visit to Glasgow on Friday 20th October.

What odds are the bookies are offering on Cook attending all the rounds of the SGP series without throwing a sickie when faced with his Polish demons, or pulling out if the travel costs are too high for him, like he did when he was supposed to ride for GB against Australia in Ipswich, a few years ago?

Short IMO .

At least Cookie has qualified for GPS, albeit finishing 4th in SGP qualifier. He hasn't relied on a wildcard. Cast your net of criticism higher to our number one who didn't represent Team GB this year.

What further action do people expect to be taken after Mr Cook was announced as non riding captain at Belle Vue this evening during his weeks enforced absence? Or was his period of absence only to cover riding and not other Speedway related activities?

Not sure if serious.

If so, then why the hell would it and why is it being dragged up on a forum to add pointless fuel to a fire?

SCB/BSPA need to be careful in situations like this, as if Cook has a doctors note which he has implied he has, then he could be the one in the right and calling the shots.

They don`t need to be careful at all- the rule clearly states that they can`t ride for 7 days without permission- and permission wasn`t granted.

Exactly!

Craig's reply:

Seems to have accepted the ban but is making clear he's genuinely suffering from illness

Which strangely occurs before certain meetings but not others, and prevents him giving notice of absence reasonably early.

Oddly enough I was thinking on similar lines , these bans for non attendance of championships only seem to affect some riders .

Robert Lambert must be related to Houdini to not get one !!!

I just hope that neither Craig nor his camp try to Big Up his 2018 GP place. I wish him all the best but hope that he just gets on with it and we can decide for ourselves by his results, as to how well he can do at the very top level of speedway.

I hope he takes no notice of the things written on here.

Well after people have paid to see him and been denied (several times) you might expect criticism.

Friends in high places, just out of interest has he ever rode in a BSPA shared event.

Friends or photos - in my opinion he is the worst offender. He did ride in the PL Pairs early season.
