sadly it is the BSPA fault theyve made so the top riders wont race here because of the way the sports run in this country.

So you keep saying. There are so many people in this country living above their means, but you still don't seem to grasp the concept that these top riders demand big bucks. In an ideal world when crowds would be flocking to attend the meetings, at an affordable price, probably we could afford these star riders. But until then we need to live within our means...... The sport has become too expensive to ride or to support as it used to be. Swindon won the league last year but still operated at a loss.. There must have been many more struggling to keep their heads above water., and you keep moaning about top riders....

#780

Blimey didn't realise you have changed your name that many times!!!

Would be a weak bottom end.

10.84 to get 3 riders.

Before anyone starts. Yes my screen name used to be Poole Pirates Fanatic.

Glad you said you have changed your name, no one would have guessed that!!!

fans can only support the speedway each club dishes up they also only support the rules and regs the BSPA makes at every AGM the riders can only ride again under the rules and regs the BSPA come up with so whos fault do you think it is ?

The riders dont make the rules nor does the fans - the only way riders or fans can make there feelings known is vote with there feet and thats exactly whats happened over the years.

I would say more than two steps back.Ok so gp riders and riders missing for 12 months are 9. what about some of these up an d coming U21 stars, what figure will be plucked out of the air for them?

Whatever the person who makes the decision thinks is appropriate.

What that person thinks is appropriate of course might well differ depending which club intends to sign him.

100% correct.

Some Speedway supporters have their heads firmly up their backsides.

British Speedway can't afford Polish League style teams.

Any club that attempts to try will be bankrupt mid season.

A team full of superstars or National League riders is irrelevant to pulling in punters.

The be all and end all is 'value for money' and the British product just doesn't offer it.

have ever said teams can fill there team full of GP riders and superstar ? The point Im making is the BSPA over the years have dug this hole the sport is in and basically done bugger all about it only watered the sport down year on year while admission prices rise crowds fall year on year clubs do nothing to even try to attract new fans while treating the ones they have with contempt- money should have been invested on a 80cc youth program like in other countries Tv money could have been invested in the sport rather than pocketed - Im sorry as a sport we only have ourselves to blame .

The one '8 and over' rule was agreed at the AGM by the 'family' of SGBP clubs in order to allow the 'lower' clubs to be more competitive. (as confirmed by Gordon Pairman, SCB).

The new assessment of GP riders who didn't ride here in 2017 of 9 points has been decided since the AGM. Those assessments are usually made 'independently' (well as far as Peter Oakes is ever independent?!), along with the averages of other as yet 'untried' riders in the UK!!

Nobody moans about the BSPA more than I , and yes I believe the situation that exists in this country is totally down to the BSPA. for not seeing the sport as their first priority. Too many promoters are so short sighted in only looking after No1. Only recently we saw clubs voting for their self indulgence rather than the benefit of the sport.

With this short sightedness, is it little wonder the sport is in such bad health. The massive financial input from TV was used by the Promoters as a safeguard against running meetings at a lost, and therefore hid the obvious conclusions that we were fighting above our weight. Fans and Promoters alike buried their head in the sand believing everything was rosy, but the more sensible ones knew the day of reckoning, would be when the TV money stopped.

At last the BSPA at the AGM have realised we need a new beginning. No I don't agree with every decision made, but at last we have some direction. What a pity it wasn't done when the TV money was first offered. We could now be reaping the benefits had it been invested properly....

Was this all new to UK GP riders on 9pt average voted for in Tenerife or afterwards ?

It seems strange that Leicester would vote for the 8pt rule knowing it was going to ruin their team plans as were planning to go with MV and AN Other now they have to choose between the two
