It doesn’t look like GP riders couldn’t take part as Pawlicki and Sayfutdinov were racing.

But, I wonder, other than making money for the promoters and, I assume the riders, what’s the point of the SEC? There seems to be no kudos attached to the title and, comparing how certain riders perform in it compared to their Polish league appearances, they don’t even appear to be using their best equipment.

Add to that the generally poor crowds - where were the alleged 30,000 spectators hiding? - and the no more than average racing, with last night being the worst of them all.

But the great news (!) is that the promoters, One Sport, are trying to get the license for the GPs, by out bidding BSI. So we have more of the same to look forward to

GP riders can take part- either by finishing in the top 5 from the season`s comp- or by qualifying through the rounds and SEC challenge final- they are not allowed to be the wildcard picks for the finals.

Fair enough. Do you know who doesn’t allow this? One Sport, BSI or FIM?

Mainly BSI. It was widely discussed when OneSport took over the series (see the older threads about SEC). BSI first intended to block
all SGP-riders from also riding in the SEC. BSI had to back down though since their intent would violate basic EU laws.
It ended in a compromise between OneSport and BSI.

It was also crap politics by FIM and FIM Europe (with one particular German in both who more or less allowed it to happen) to allow OneSport copypaste a competition that was the SGP and call it SEC.

It’s all in the past and nothing has been learned. Just wait and see.

I  would assume  that it falls under the same laws and regulations as BSI/FIM not allowed to ban SGP-riders in SEC.
FIM / FIM-E probably aren't allowed to stop  SEC regardless of shape since OneSport then could claim that FIM/FIM-E are restricting free trade.
It is not different compared to WRC and IRC/ERC. WRC is the larger series spanning over longer time and more parts of the world
while ERC is the smaller "local" European series and run by different promoters.

The problem is the FIM are basically hopeless at promoting the sport,so jumped at the chance to let someone cherry pick the main comps. Then FIM Europe were allowed to run their own and also jumped at the chance to let someone else run their main comp, much to the chagrin of both BSI and FIM.Battle lines were drawn and have become entrenched ever since, which is why it is laughable for people to think the winner of the SEC would be given a wildcard into a BSI comp!!!

The problem is not eu laws or banning riders from one series to another. The problem is why it was allowed to happen, take that path probably 2 years before the war on riders began.

I’m not talking about BSI or OneSport. The main problem were the people in FIM CCP and FIM Europe TRC. With atleast one person in both so some info had to be available. But maybe it wasnt.

Has anyone heard how Andreas Johnson is doing? I think both Lebedev and Huchenbeck were both shaken up more than they let on and were very lucky to "walk away" . Not sure if either one should have raced that soon after.  Did anyone notice that it appeared that Lebedev might have had only one bike there as they were working on it like there was no other?
