So what happened to the fans must come first?. That didn't last very long. We haven't even started the season and start time changes are already on us, changing dates will follow followed by the normal shoddy organisation of the speedway promoters. When will they ever learn that Sunday nights is not a good night because people who travel have to get up and go to work the next day.

At Peterborough the showground comes first

In the Star article, they say 'its out of our control'.

Please can someone explain what that is?

Be open and simply tell us the truth.

Surely the Showground agreed to the original start time and then changed their minds? Can't see why those running the meeting are getting it in the neck to be honest.

Absolutely and as its likely to be genuinely out of their control most will understand the predicament

Very disappointing. It was all going so well. Great track and line up with a logical start time for a mid March, Sunday meeting. Sadly the change will have a significant impact on the funds raised.

The only clash I can see is a young driver, under 17 driving lessons event, 8am-5pm. Surely this isn’t the unforeseen, enforced reason for the time change.

To be honest they’d be better to have switched the meeting to the Saturday either afternoon or evening either would be better than Sunday evening in terms of raising money for a great cause . Sadly not a great start to the new season .

Which begs the question if they had a contract with the EOES for the original time, why did they allow them to change the time, presumably without financial penalty. If that's the way speedway does business no wonder it's dying.

Been looking at the Young Drivers website and it appears the event on the 18th at the EOES is already fully booked which implies it must have been on the calendar for quite a while. As a large number of Peterboroughs home meetings are on Sundays this year it seems reasonable to assume that someone took it for granted it would be available for the Ben Fund without bothering to check before advertising the meeting. Such a shame because as others have said the change of time will probably have an effect on the number of fans attending.  A total mis management of what could have been a good start to the speedway season.

My understanding is that change in start time is entirely down to the Showground, and the  Peterborough Promotion and Ben Fund Organisers had no say in the matter. This happened a couple of times last season when the Showground bosses decided that their event should take priority over Speedway. Unfortunately at any venue which is not owned by the Speedway promotion the relationship with the landlords is to say the least tenuous...

In public it has always been an excellent working relationship and we're told that they want us there. That's always been hard to believe in the last 15 years or so and even more so in recent seasons.

Not doubting you but would like to say if your information is correct then in future ,as I presume Peterborough speedway pay for the use of the EOES, they need to get everything in writing so that this type of mess up never happens again. All it has managed to achieve is upset speedway fans who were looking forward to the meeting and who are now not going to attend and the Ben Fund whose fund raising will suffer.

The EoES say jump and we say how high. They'll never agree to us calling the shots. Have you ever seen anyone in Peterborough speedway management criticise the EoES management? No is the answer and that tells you all you need to know.

Stupid change to 6.30pm start.  Meeting won't finish to almost 9pm.  Likely to be freezing cold and a very late return home whether I like it or not.

Work next day so I'm not going now.  Crowd minus one and by looks of it others not going.       Gutted as its a good line up but the decision is ridiculous.
