Race Nights

It will the same as last season we will not get a home meeting every week

That's obvious - there isn't enough fixtures to fill every week. However, there is no way any team should go 3/4 weeks or more without a meeting like they did last year.

Not only did they object but 2 of the clubs even threatened not to run if they had to lose their Thursday race day!!

That must be Ipswich and Redcar then as I believe all was set for Leicester and Sheffield to swap despite the result of the promotiin/relegation play off had Thursday been agreed for the Premiership.

Shouldve called their bluff and stuck to what was agreed as the best way forward.....

Cant help thinking this is another botched up rule that wasn't thought through.    In the wonderful world of ideal scenarios ,  when every body is fit it should world ok.     if a lesser rider or reserve requires covering there are possibilities,     but when a team loses their top man, there will be no cover, as all the other teams will be riding   They are then,  in deep trouble, resulting in a severely weakened team .

Also,   I can understand Ipswich and Redcar wanting to retain their Thursdays race nights , but surely they cant over rule the FIM  and dictate what leagues runs on what nights.    Having been given the preference  of Monday and Thursdays by the FIM,      I cant believe the  BSPA would allow personal preferences  to ride roughshod over the whole sport.         Surely the decision here should have been :   The Premiership    WILL  run on Mons and Thurs,  the Championship    WILL   run on the other days,   then ask the teams which league  they wanted  to ride in .

Looking at the quality there don't seem to be much difference between the two leagues.....

Quite simple solution to teams missing riders if they go to Swindon on a Thursday. If a team is missing one rider, Morris is replaced by a CL 6 pointer. If two, then Musiliak is replaced by a CL 6 pointer.

Sorted!

THE BSPA weren't given the race-nights. They are not in the gift of the FIM. They informed the International Speedway League Bureau, which is affiliated to the FIM, that these were the nights they wanted. Sweden requested Tuesdays, Denmark went for Wednesdays which left Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the Poles which, originally, they were happy with.

When the BSPA changed their minds, and substituted Wednesday for Thursday, the Poles moved the goalposts although it didn't actually affect them. It just means that Danish tracks will have priority over riders on Wednesdays.

The Polish league authorities continue to play hardball, demanding priority of virtually any day of the week for their play-offs and the FIM are seemingly unable to bring any pressure to bear on what is essentially a domestic situation with the Poles flexing their undoubted muscle.

No,  we weren't given the race nights,  but we were offered the preference of using them.    They were two days the other countries didn't use or want.    To change them once they were agreed was a massive backward step.....

Probably  my wording wasn't right, but the meaning was the same.....

So basically if King’s Lynn sign Iversen and he has a meeting in Denmark the Danish club gets priority so in KL case it would make sense to race Monday night in at least the weeks Iversen has a Danish meeting- but that doesn’t altar the fact if the Poles stick to 3 leagues only that will rule Iversen totally out of KL plans .

Wolves - Schlein and Heaps ride for Ipswich on a Thursday

Leicester have King and Bates riding on Thursdays

Rye House have Barker on a Thursday

Thats six Monday meetings for Swindon and haven't they said it would be 50/50 so seven of the remaining eight will be Thursday's which will be Belle Vue, Kings Lynn, Poole and Somerset. Unless I have over looked any other clashes, I take it that's how Swindons fixtures would work out

You can add to that, that the opposition teams riding against those championship teams on the thurs so it could be more than six.  Each time Lakeside race against one of the above championship teams they could be three riders down if the premier has priority.

If Iversen had to choose between Danish and British leagues (and was free to do so), which would he go for?

Why would the Premiership have priority if the agreed race nights are Monday and Wednesday?

It shouldn't be too difficult to arrange the fixtures so that Swindon's Thursday home meetings do not clash with rider's Championship commitments.

Since the bspa have authorised Swindon to ride on a thurs, following what appears to have been the usual screw up in originally agreeing Mon and Thurs as the Premier race nights and then changing to Mon and Wed, who knows what priorities there now are for thursday nights.

I agree it should not be too difficult to arrange the fixtures so that they do not clash with riders championship meetings, but as like 2017 if the bspa schedule has gaps of two or three weeks of no meetings, then we have some rain offs in the first part of the season there may be clashes in the later part of the season.
