joke

What a joke  hardly any difference between.the strength of both leagues, due to the one 8 point rider per team rule.It also stops any more top riders being attracted back to Britain just keep the standard  of riders down ,and watch the crowds go down again.

Hardly a joke,  I cant find anything to laugh at.   More of a reality check.   The damage has not been done this year,  but was created by decisions made in the past.   There was always going to be a reality check when promoters would have to cut the costs to survive.  and this is the result of it.

Agree about the strength of the two leagues being similar  and can see no sense in the two league scenario with fixed race nights.   With one division, raced on a night that suited each club,  we would have had more local rivalry where fans could travel to and connect with...

I think it will get harder before it gets better....

The 8 point rule is irrelevant. When you can compete financially with the Polish clubs, then you might attract some riders back. Until then, they will always be under the control of their Polish masters, who can request them to return for training sessions and miss meetings at the drop of a hat. So for now, concentrate of breeding young local talent to fill the leagues.

If only I could see that it WILL get better, and  it's been hard enough for the last few years, to watch the decline of Speedway GB. Likely now to be in free fall. What is being done to attract these lost generation of new supporters?

The problem is that while they admit things needed to be done they still have the attitude that British Speedway is fine and a few twists will sort it. However the facts speak for themselves when you have the AGM it should be ALL the promoters voting on ALL issues not what is I your league.

Take the 8+ rule which does have a small bit of credibility to it, the vote was done by just seven teams in the Premiership with Belle Vue not allowed to vote as its anew promotion even though Mark Lemon was there and spent years in the sport and at the club.

Tje vote went 4-3 but Redcar, Ipswich, Lakeside etc should have all got a vote as its the BSPA AGM not the Premiership AGM and really Aces should have got a vote. So self interest comes into it and the correct procedure in an AGM is the Chairman only gets to vote if it's deadlock. So the vote would have been 4-3 against or 4-4 with the assistant Chairman getting the deciding vote if you don't include Championship voters.

The he sport needed to be rebuilt and one big league done to Championship level should have been bought in using any night from Wednesday to Sunday and tracks like Poole and Wolverhampton coming down to the level of Redcar or Workington and not the way it was done years ago when they made the small tracks sign riders they couldn't afford.

THEN if the big clubs wanted to race in a so called ELITE status let them run on a Monday only using the main five riders from their team and any other two riders in a season doing 14 fixtures only like Sweden and Poland and get it so BT will want to film it as it may be Woffinden and Lindgren v Doyle and Sayfutdinov or Zagar and Bjerre v Iversen and Kildemand etc.

However they choose to carry on regardless and the only reason for fixed nights is to avoid fixture clashes between the two leagues and not to get star riders back. The funny thing is that they struggle to get all the fixtures done in a season anyway and now have to fit them in just 54 race nights

No struggle to get SGBP fixtures completed - 2nd leg of the play-off final was 4th October - it was only in SGBC that there were fixture issues.

It would not surprise me if the Premiership league has to be scrapped at least for one year and who knows maybe longer whilst the situation is properly resolved with all parties involved including media and marketing. There will still be two leagues operating, anyway. And if the "not enough riders" cry goes out, split the bigger league into two regions with very limited doubling up and Crystal clear rules about who rides for who in playoffs, or get a load of cheaper Danes and Germans in to backfill.

If they could take the bold step of scaling back and then work to produce a credible business plan for 2019 or 2020 onwards, they could try going onto Dragons Den for investment and additional expertise. Would need somebody with appropriate expertise in pitching to be the front person, though.

One wonders which Dragon would be most likely to be interested??

Looks like we have lost Freddie Lingren from riding here ,all down to the eight point rule ,one of the best riders we had. What a load of rubbish ,We should have allowed two over eight riders,AND MADE UP TEAMS TO SAY A FORTY POINT RULE ,WE HAVE ENOUGH RIDERS.YEARS AGO WHEN THE TWO LEAGUES JOINED ,RIDERS STEPED UP TO THE PLATE AND SOME BECAME STARS IN THE NEW SET UP.Most riders would love the challenge.    Sorry for the capitals only just saw they were on
