HATS OFF TO JASON DOYLE

Recommended Posts

AUSSIE riders rarely get a good press on here, some suggesting they are parasites to British speedway, so it is well worth watching the You Tube interview between Nigel Pearson and Jason Doyle at Somerset last night.

Doing the BEN meeting is a huge credit to Jason.

Credit to all the riders who support it but then why would any rider not support something that is potentially for the benefit of every rider?

Indeed it is and he is also the most worthy World Champion for a number of years. What he has achieved is remarkable and he is truly a great role model for many younger riders.

Could that be because they don't deserve it ,  Doyle deserves no more praise for doing the Ben  meeting than any other rider , only a sycophant would try to claim he does

You don't think the current world champion might:

a) Be a bigger draw

b ) Have more demands on his time

than say Ben Barker?

Well he hasn't really put a foot wrong so far and does seem to care about the sport, that looks to me like a role model that some of our own would do well to follow.

Perhaps not the most naturally talented rider ever but has worked as hard as anyone to get to where he is. Last season proved how tough the bloke is and it will be great to see the world champion riding for a UK club again. Love how honest he is too, refreshing among modern sports. There are young riders who could learn a lot from him for sure.

take your point about being a draw card but, as for his time, he'll use the meeting like the other riders which is to refine things for the season and get a meeting under his belt.

So if he didn't do the Ben Meeting you could slag him off, and now he IS riding in it he is just using it for his own reasons ?. Jason has probably benefitted more than most riders in the past with his injuries, and perhaps like Ben Barker does, he feels it is a duty to support such a great event that makes available funds available to all riders at some stage in their careers.

I was at the OTA on Thursday night and he came across as a man who genuinely feels it a privilege to be World Champion. He will be a big draw for Somerset and I for one admire him totally for overcoming the terrible injuries he sustained in 2016 to reach the pinnacle of his sport. He clearly loves British speedway and for that, good on you sport!

Just as with Woffinden, there will always be the jealous, bitter, xenophobic haters.

Doyle is a rider who has grown on me tremendously over the last couple of seasons and one who certainly has achieved far more than I ever thought him capable off.

Who was the last major benificiary of the ben fund and the benevolence of almost all British speedway fans , There should be no question whether Doyle Rides or not ,

Doyle hasn’t benefited from the Ben Fund for years. You don’t qualify if injured while riding overseas. So what if he also wants to get a meeting under his belt - isn’t that a ‘win win’?

What makes him any more worthy than any other world champion?
