2 minute start clocks

It's essentially the same rule, just enforcing the staying on the bikes to do so. I think some refs are lenient when there isn't a clock on centre green.

So sitting on your bike 2 meters from the tapes until the clock shows "15 secs to go" is OK, but getting off your bike to dig your groove to be ready by "40 secs to go" is not?

It penalises the short riders so it's an unfair rule imo, 2 min count down clocks would be better.....

Well that's the rule isn't it??

The simplest and easiest thing to do have done would be to ensure ALL tracks have a 2 minute clock by the start line so the ref, riders and fans know how long is left. Riders can do what they like till then. That would have been a very simple rule to enforce.

Rosco in his post meeting interview on You-tube reckons a 2-minute clock would cost around £1300 - 'insignificant in the overall scheme of things'!!

And it a stupid rule, isnt it as it does nothing towards solving the problem which is a 2-3 hour long 15 heats of speedway. The thing that it does is put Zagar and Dwarfar on an un-equal position when it comes to gating.

We had a clock in Finland last season, it would have cost about 1400€ new. The ref wrote in his report that it did bring somesort of peace or similar to the proceedings and heats were on their way about 15 secs earlier. Thats about 3 mins off if you think about the problem that is the  roughly 150 mins of a 15 heat meeting. If the ref would just put the clock on, exclude if necessary for going over the limit everything would be sorted in weeks. Would have been years ago. Refs are the problem, not riders.

More absolute nonsense. Where do some of these people get these ridiculous figures from?

Correct, so does absolutely nothing.

What does it matter what a rider does as long as he is ready to race within 2 mins. If they want to garden, get to the start line quicker. Now it will take them longer to do the gardening so it will be counter productive :)

At King's Lynn last season they had the 2mins countdown on the scoreboard but more often than not the clock would get removed with about 10 seconds remaining, even with rider/s still in the pits. No idea if this is at the referees request or not.

Things cost. Best (highest) offer I had when I did some research years ago was over 2k€. The one at Hyvinkää last year was wireless with 4 digits and the height of one was about 15cm. It was way too pro for that use.

Refs are the problem for being too lenient,  riders take equal guilt for ignoring the orders of the start Marshall.

A 2 min clock seems an obvious answer, surely most Clubs could get a Sponser for that. What does it matter what the riders do at the starting gate as long as they are ready to race before the clock counts down.Seems to work well at GP's.Another complication invented by BSPA.!!!

If a rider keeps gardening just before two minutes is up, its a choice to ignore the start marshall. So he’s earned an exclusion. Very simple.

Sorry - I can't make any sense of the last sentence?

Just looking on amazon very quickly earlier, I found some for between $200 and $500.
