...funny, though, that fans have no problem singing inane chants at football matches.

Could speedway cope with

'Jack Holder what a ₩@#£€& , what a ₩@#£€&'

:o:P

Surely that song would be sung about all the holder clan. Oh and don't forget one for Jason Doyle

Think those chants tend to be 'insert you own choice of ₩@#£€&'

It's more than just the team ethic, it's everything. It looks cool, it's the image, it's the brand. If there is one thing the powers that be don't get (and trust me, there is a lot that they don't get) it's branding.

I've never known a sport to be so out of touch with the modern era.

It doesn't look that cool.

If it did, youngsters would be flocking to Tracks to watch Speedway - and they aren't doing that.

So - as I say - these bloody suits cannot be that 'cool'.

Ipswich taking it one step further

Not only matching race suit but fully co-ordinated bike covers also

And IMO this is the major point

Yes it is extra expense and yes you dont win because of a fancy suit and covers

BUT any future upturn in the sport will be down to attracting quality higher profile sponsors

They would only want to showcase themselves is this kind of professional manner

I remember Oxford adopting co-ordinated bike covers during the time they were known as 'Silver Machine'...damn awful nickname!

Indeed, Mr Wagstaff started it at Lynn in 2000 when the riders all have silver bike covers to go with the black race suits.

Peterborough also had matching covers under Rick & Julie.

The Ipswich kit definitely looks superb

Likewise Reading when they were the 'Bulldogs'. Somerset also had matching bike covers in 2008 and 2010.

So just to be clear on what you are saying - sponsors will be attracted if the team is all decked out in matching stuff?!  Would they still be attracted if the team languishes at the bottom of the league?! No disrespect to Ippo - just asking.......!
