tocha 308 Posted June 1, 2018 It seemed rather strange management from Workington. Only Proctor and Campton were in the points but no tactical substitution used and I expected Campton to have his full seven outings. He may have declined I suppose as only just back from injury but a case in point was heat 9, Workington off 1 and 3 with programmed riders Klindt and Bickley which would have been an ideal opportunity for TS (Proctor) and change of reserve

Lord Lucan 375 Posted June 1, 2018 Hmm, I mentioned earlier to a fellow forum jockey that this meeting would only be close if enough of the Comets turned up.....it would appear that two wasn't enough??
Daytripper 1,123 Posted June 1, 2018 WWorky just didn't seem up for it to me. I noticed for example in one of the track grades there were 5 Lakeside riders on the air fence watching what the grader was doing, but only one Worky rider,. so they were coming out after the grade not really being aware of where the lines had changed on the all important first two bends. Most Lakeside riders were out early to prepare their gates, especally Richard Lawson, who was usually out straight after the previous race finished, while most ly the Comets were sitting at the pit gate until the two minutes was put on. The result was that the Comets were constantly being beaten out or the gate and 14 points from Lawson whose starts were especially good. This years Lakeside team seem to gell better than any team we've had for a good few years , but to put it bluntlyWorkington didn't really seem like a team at all, just 7 journeyman riders. Stll, it could well be the boot could be on the other foot when Lakeside try to cope with Workingtons track.

That could well be the case especially as this Lakeside team are just home track specialists, so we were told.

But they are definitely protesting by not trying and all the so call bike problems Either your post's re payment of riders are mischief or there is some truth in what you post. Either way what are you gaining by broadcasting such unsubstantiated hearsay on here ?. If you analyse the logic , riders protesting by deliberately not scoring points will not increase any potential monies they may or may not be owed so is therefore not in the interest of rider, club or crowd levels. Either substantiate what you are circulating or leave it alone. The paucity of home fixtures has been been detrimental to the Comets and further evidence of how speedway repeatedly shoots itself and member clubs in the foot. waco 1,026 Posted June 2, 2018 Poor meeting tonight but what can you expect against a team that only had two riders trying,Procter and Campton......Worky should really think about some changes especially at the top end...Hammers continue to impress as a really solid outfit that look like they are really enjoying themselves home ,and away,, the track was in excellent condition and there can be no excuses for Workys poor performance tonight.......
