Scorpions vs Diamonds - 08.06.18 19.30

With Lindgren leading this heat & was doing well in others. It was just a bit more passion & will to win from our lads that never gave up.

The sensational Heat 5 from last night:

This race sums Lindgren up for me away from home.  He had a great lead after lap 1 and the Scunny paired shouldn't have seen him for dust, but he seems to just go through the motions away from home.  I like some have accepted that we are going to get very little from him away from home and will enjoy his home displays which are top class.

Great news about Steve. I saw him the other week without his knee brace & yesterday without crutches. It did make me wonder with the late announcement of our team/guests if Steve would have been back yesterday.

I think we all agree he’s not a no 1 and been put in a difficult position but the way he was passed in the ht5 and a 3 point score while the rest of the other 6 managed 37 it’s shocking don’t agree with the comments with regards to you know what your getting, this isn’t a Lindgren bashing as I’ve defended him plenty in the past but any other rider in any other team would be in for serious criticism for a performance like that and he should not be spared that because it is simply not good enough for someone of his experience,as I’ve already said he’s been put in a difficult position due to the team build up but it should not be used as an excuse to get 3 points especially as captain

Looked like we were on for 5-1 until Robbo made a MISTAKE. ;)

Maybe better to give credit to the two home riders and track specialists for a superb ride rather than slag Lindgren off

It was a spirited performance from Newcastle... LL Included

Tero was just about to be swallowed up by  both Scorpions when he punctured ,so don't think   Diamonds would have got their point anyway. All in all a good show by both teams. "Expect an announcement tomorrow" they said at the after meet conference-  Stevie back in the team from  next week???

Rubbish! Tero punctured exiting bend 2, and the 2 Scorpions passed him bend 3/4 so I very much doubt they would have got past him with only one lap to go. Incidentally that was his 2nd puncture of the night. Garrity also had 1 as did Lindgren.

No, it wasn’t a let down for me because it was what I expected.

If you’re “for real”, why do you think LL would score many more? Look at his scores away from home this season, look at his averages over his career and go figure.

If you translate this into English, I’ll reply.

Agree 100%.

Should you not expect more from your Number One and Captain.

A Captain s supposed to inspire his Team mates  BOTH Home and AWAY!!!

Well yet again lindgren a massive let down away from home Only beating  Phillips twice and Robson once what a joke !! I wonder what excuses a certain someone on here has for him this time? Ha

By the same implication you could say he was only beaten by Scorpions powerhouse top four (which they are especially around Scunthorpe) all of whom have a higher average than Ludde and should, therefore, beat him anyway.

It should be said that up until now the only team who have scored more at Scunthorpe this year than us are Sheffield (who traditionally do well there) who got 41.

If it wasn't for Tero's unfortunate puncture in heat 15 we would have done even better than that.

Looking at it from outside as a neutral Im surprised Newcastle fans are being quite so critical

The expectation from most was that the Diamonds would struggle to be competitive home or away - that certainly hasnt been the case in the main

Yes Lindgren is struggling away but realistically on his average he cannot be expected to regularly beat the home heat leaders. At home he has been generally very good

Also having him top the averages has meant a solid reserve which has been an advantage to offset some potential fragility with him at 1

Tradtionally Newcastle have tracked strong sides and no doubt will do all within their power to be as competitive as possible this year even when circumstances make it more of a challenge. Im sure there have been frustrations with planned changes not coming to fruition through no fault of their own

but he's no.1 so should be beating them, but for how long ???

Maybe there's a new no.1 just around the corner ;) (latest rolling ave's,,. might put Robbo at 1)

If Robbo goes to 1 then will it be greatly different? As good and exciting as he is would you really expect him to win too many heat 1 ,13 and 15 away?

Granted I doubt anyone would be questioning his effort even if running a 3rd but there would likely still be a few 3rds despite that
