Genuine question, how relevant is this to the actual league table? I.e do these figures have any bearing on things or is it more for a form guide?

No relevance directly, but it shows a more realistic ranking when the number of meetings is disparate.

Another way of looking at this table is:-

If all teams win all their remaining home matches and pick up no points away from home, this is the order in which they will finish in the League.

However, in general terms, losing at home will drop them down this order but gaining points away from home will lift them up the table. So, as Neil Watson said, it is a good way of comparing teams with varying numbers of home and away matches remaining.
