I believe access is a problem for some tracks. So not possible for some.

Agreed. Having noticed last night how close the houses are now to Swindon Stadium, I'm sure the residents would be thrilled to have a water tanker going round the track at 4 O'Clock in the morning.

Awful dust bowl of a track, very little passing, but our first time speedway visitors bloody loved it surprisingly! Great weather and nice cold coiderr made it bearable just.

Need to get this sorted otherwise crowds will be even lower in future. Was around half of crowd that attended Zummerrzet match, even though free and reduced admission was on offer. A few hundred missing as it was on BT.

Hope Morra is ok. Great comeback for Dave Bellego, and good display from fellow Frenchie Berge. sign him up, Adam and Troy excellent, and good recovery by Tobi.

Leicester, apart from Hansi, offered very little, only 3 heat wins.

Swindon have ridden 2 more meetings than anyone, still all to play for all 7 in with a shout.

Could well be last season for Robins if it carries on like this.

I think you make a really good point there.  Those who currently attend speedway are maybe too focused on the racing whereas new people will view it more on the whole package?  This is certainly true of other sports - the 'racing' in F1 for example is usually dull, cricket, rugby and football also have really dull matches but people enjoy other aspects such as entertainment in the stadium, seats and covered terracing, decent inside areas for food and drink and to be able to socialise and dip into the action as necessary.   Most speedway tracks are run down looking with outdated facilities and a poor environment for this socialising.  Everyone says Belle Vue is great but to have to walk around some car parks, with no signs just to be able to get to the stand and then be faced with one overpriced burger van gives a poor spectator environment for casual type fans.  The racing can sometimes be boring but if people can enjoy just being there then they will likely come back - equally the racing could be great but with little to do other than stand around in the open air people still get bored and may not bother coming again.

Think Swindon will be the next British club to fold.

Without doubt, it happened to Oxford & Reading, Swindon to complete the set.

Heres a conspiracy theory.

Swindon stadium owners know that in present circumstances, overnight track watering is needed. Swindon promotion probably asked them for necessary access.

Stadium owners say no dice, guys. We can't have the local residents being disturbed by additional activity, especially at night, and dog racing has priority access outside of your allocated hours anyway.

Developers give stadium owners a pat on the back for their help in further discrediting speedway. "Won't be too long now until you can hand it over to us for a nice fat cheque and we can send in the heavy plant."

Club Statement

THE following relates to Monday night v Leicester:

The management of Swindon Speedway recognise that track conditions for Monday’s meeting against Leicester were far from perfect.

A number of factors came together to create a perfect storm of problems.

We are working hard on the issues and expect to have them resolved by next Monday’s meeting against Wolverhampton.

I was gobsmacked by how close the houses were to the stadium and cannot believe that a motorsports stadium can have a future in that location. I cannot see there being a 70th season unless the race track can be located elsewhere in the area.

I've just been on their website to check if you'd snipped it, so no apology to anybody; not the broadcaster, the riders, the viewers or the paying customer who got covered in 5hite whilst being bored out of their minds. You'd be forgiven for thinking they did it on purpose, utter contempt for everyone except each other.

He has got headlights on his tractor so overnight watering can be done providing he has access and other staff available at those times.

I can't see the nearby residents being very happy with a tractor continually going round the track when they are trying to sleep. He would be very close to some of the new houses. That's another problem for Swindon with the fixed race nights, dog racing on both Monday & Wednesday, they are not allowed any track preparation while the dog meeting is on.

As was predicted when the fixed nights of Mon and Wed were announced
