Announcement by Swindon Speedway just released:

Swindon Speedway sincerely apologise to customers for the unsatisfactory and unacceptable conditions during Monday's match against Leicester.

This was caused by a combination of circumstances, which we shall make every effort to ensure is not repeated in future.

As a gesture of goodwill, customers who retained their entrance ticket will be able to use it, upon presentation, to obtain a £5 discount (£3 for concessions) from their admission cost at any remaining 2018 meeting, excluding playoffs.

Customers who had travelled from the Leicester area, should send their ticket to Swindon Speedway with a covering letter, to obtain a full refund as an alternative to the above offer.

Oh hang on.......

Sorry, I seem to have mis-read it. It should read:

Swindon Speedway now realises it has been shat on the the Abbey Stadium's owners in collaboration with property developers, and has decided that it no longer gives a flying fool, knowing that the current season is now the final one. In the meantime, keep coming along and paying, every little helps.

You're right, probably better to just shut up shop now! They must know it's the last season, why else would they be giving a big push in local schools, offering discounts/free entry to newcomers brought along. Why else would they have laid out on 4 riders in the last 2 seasons. It all falls into place now. Maybe it's just another part of the cover up/conspiracies.

Missed that what did he say ?

"How lucky we young Aussies are to still have a home from home where we can learn enough to do the business while getting paid for it"

I think it was what he said.

The tracks in Britain have generally been plop this season especially his own home track. Do you expect him to say all is rosy just because hes a foreigner living here? Was it ok for Ellis to slate the track because hes British?

I have never been a Troy lover, but he has a point speaking out about bad tracks..     Monday Night was the biggest turnoff of the sport I have ever known.   The track was an utter disgrace.  Someone should be held to account that this was allowed to happen...  Tatum even pointed out the problems on his track inspection, but still nothing was done about it.     It was as if they wasn't bothered...

Swindon as a club, should be charged with bringing the sport into disrepute. For a disaster like this to be shown live on TV was an embarrassment for British speedway. Those responsible should be ashamed of themselves.

Morris has withdrawn. Advantage Leicester.

They were better off. IRR should only be used if a heat leader is injured as a result of an incident caused by the opposing team. He crashed in his second ride and it was his own fault but by being allowed to use IRR his rides were taken by 2 heat leaders and not the reserves.

They still need customers, at least to cover overheads. If you own a shop and you know you're going to be closing it at a future point, you've still got to pay the rent and stuff, so yes of course you keep on with the marketing.

The statement put out though, smacks of defeatism and of having given up. And actually, I could hardly blame them if that were so. This country is being shafted by the greed and ruthlessness of land and property developers, and the dice are being stacked ever increasingly in their favour. Maybe something's happened recently which has caused the Swindon set up to decide they no longer want all the aggro?

You're right, you can bet if reserves had to be used he wouldn't have withdrawn from the meeting, it was obvious from his comments he didn't fancy it & Swindon used the rule to gain an advantage ( can't blame them, Rossiter isn't slow were things like that are concerned). IRR was then unbeaten from the remaining 2 rides. Morris couldn' t have been too badly hurt, seemed to ride OK last night.

And suppose you get the same ref that officiated last week's GP?
