Great Britain v Australia - Glasgow, Saturday August 4 - 3pm

To be fair, it's progressive either way.

Mind you, a really progressive thing would be to give the rights away to ITV4 or BBC Red Button for production costs only....

....Flying Pigs Alert

I'm sure I read somewhere they would be 6 man teams?

Which side is Schlein going to ride for?

Schlein rides on an ACU licence, so it wouldn't be Australia.:nono::drink:

Maybe speedway can reach a whole new low - Schlein to ride for GB & Australia to use rider replacement for him.

Test matches are always 6 rider teams.

Not sure they have ever been 6 rider teams....7, 8 and even 10 rider teams in the early years but cannot recall a single one in the UK with 6.

That is of course making a "Wild" assumption that this would be a real 18 heat International.....but that really is a wild assumption, probably 15.

You must be a lot younger than me :D 6 man teams(3 pairs of 2)  the pairs raced the other pairs which is 9 heats and then they did it all again which made a 18 heat test match

Edit exactly as this http://www.internationalspeedway.co.uk/engvden.htm

I believe ;) it is:- 6 Man Teams, 15 Heats. (12 Programmed Heats + 3 Nominated).

Top two riders (from each team) to be in Heat 15.

Same as the Poles do- although not sure if the heat 15 rule happens there

Great to see test matches again, but couldn't they have chosen a more Northern  venue?

The golden era of the test matCh in this country was the sixtiesinto  the early seventies IMO , there was 20,000 allegedly at Somerton park Newport for a Great Britain v ussr tEst match in 1965 , as others have said 6 riders in the main team with 2 reserves (usually local stars for GB) of course GB included likes of kiwis -Briggs, mauger, Moore & Aussies airey, Middleton scots McKinley In early days .

Great at to see a test match back on calender . Maybe more appetite now especially as international stars rarely seen on uk tracks these days . Bring on Sweden, Poland , Russia

Spot on Frankie local  stars often got chances in those test matches  i remember the likes of  Les Sharpe, Arnie Haley,Dave Younghusband, Tony Lomas, Bob Kilby (etc) getting caps they were all good riders in there own right.
