You could not make it up, maybe wrong but who knows i dont think thats correct . if worky are in the top 4 @ the cutoff date , they should take their place in the play offs . any team that adds points to their tally and climbs above worky do not count . worky will be in the play off , play offs . going back to an older meeting when we did not qualify in the top 6 , but were denied any taking part because we did not complete our fixtures by the date the muppets set . so who was that team for our last fixture . GOOD OLE EDINBURGH .
Baldyman 6,243 Posted August 10, 2018 Would this or has this happened in any other pro sport that anyone's knows of? I couldn't imagine man u let another team qualify for a title cos they had played fewer games.

You could not make it up, maybe wrong but who knows Anything is possible the way speedway is run, just look at last season when Workington raced at Newcastle in a double header with Redcar and at the same time teams were actually racing eachother in the playoffs. Baldyman 6,243 Posted August 10, 2018 (edited) Yes. The same as worky should be allowed to finish their fixtures. It isn't your fault the fixtures were changed. The stupid thing is though., these should have already been raced, there has been plenty of weekends without speedway at every track during the long hot summer. Taylorj 1,000 Posted August 10, 2018 So now , IF we do make the play-offs , and we haven’t completed our fixtures we don’t qualify anyway ..WTF , surely our promotion know more than than the rumour mongers
screm 7,989 Posted August 10, 2018 It would seem that the Workington promotion are about to be rewarded with another low crowd for this fixture, through no fault of their own. You wonder just how long they can go on like that.

Saturday’s not that much of a problem , we only Dan missing which can be taken by r/r , it’s Newcastle fixture it will affect , so their promotion missing out in a lot of Worky fans travelling ... It will probably affect Newcastle's promotion financially, but that all seems to be being forgotten. I still don't get why the 'official' blurb from Workington is saying it's a re-arranged fixture, when it isn't. I will certainly be asking questions (unless it is answered officially before then) on Sunday to the people in high authority (of both clubs).
jenga 2,998 Posted August 10, 2018 can anyone on here say its an official fixture and not a re arranged meeting ? it looks like we cant have guests because its not in the super league or whatever they call it now .could be with it being a minor league meeting . never seen so many lemmings jumping over a cliff at one time . hang on , yes i have but they call them speedway fans LOL shameful way to run a sport . The thread title refers to Workington v Sheffield and this IS a re-arranged fixture. Originally this was to be run on June 9th, but the Stadium Landlords prevented Workington running then as there was a music event at the stadium. The Newcastle v Workington Championship fixture definitely ISN'T a re-arranged fixture as this was in place at the start of the season. Ironically, the Workington v Newcastle Championship fixture was also in place at the start of the season for tonight Friday Aug 10th, but was removed. We would have had Dan Bewley available had the "Committee" not removed it their quest to put us out of business!
