Adding a 1 week extension onto the cut-off date'

Agreed - the problem is nothing to do with fixed race nights as it happens every year. Last year for instance Rye House went weeks without meetings and then ran a third of their home meetings in 8 days just to squeeze them in by the deadline!

And then they wonder why they lost money.....

I believe football fixtures are dictated by the authorities, not by clubs making agreements between each other.

If the SGB Premiership continues with fixed race nights then the simple way to solve future fixture problems would be for teams to have to declare any dates they are not available at the start of the season. Clubs would then be given the dates of their fixtures. Two home meetings a month with a third date each month for any rain offs. If a meeting is rained off then it is automatically moved to the next rain off date at the track that the away team are not racing on. Two teams my by mutual agreement move a fixture by a maximum of three weeks either before or after the planned date but this must be announced at least six weeks before the original date so that fans can plan their travel arrangements without the worry of last minute changes except those caused by the weather.

Plan all fixtures to be completed by the end of August with the first two weeks in September kept clear to run any rained off fixtures. The Play offs could then be run over the following four weeks. If we have Monday and Wednesday as fixed race nights then all play off matches would be on Wednesday with the following Monday as the rain off date.

All the BSPA need to do is to ask the Football League if they can use the computer program which football use to generate their fixture list.

The riders pull the strings in this country, it's as simple as that.

If the Stars were sitting 4th in the table, 2 pts clear of Poole in 5th with a fixture against Poole to be re-arranged, why would Stars want to run the meeting and risk losing a play-off spot?

This is just an example of what could (and let's face it knowing the level of self-interest which exists in our sport) and most probably will happen.

It's a mockery.

These were just five fixtures in the Premiership from the 8th August to Monday 13th

8th - Kings Lynn v Belle Vue / Swindon v Leicester

9th - Poole v Leicester

13th - Leicester v Belle Vue / Poole v Somerset

And yet Still outstanding from A fixtures based on SS are the following

KL v Leicester / KL v Wolverhampton / Swindon v Belle Vue

The B fixtures still to be run

Belle Vue have five fixture (after taking into account Somerset yesterday) ( 3 home 2 away)

KL have six (3 home and 3 away)

Leicester have four (2 home and 2 away)

Poole have six (3 home and 3 away)

Somerset have seven (4 home 3 away)

Swindon have three (2 home 1 away)

Wolverhampton have seven (3 home 4 away)

You have to question why by the third week of August so many fixtures are still to be run when there have been so many blank dates throughout most weeks since May and with some A fixtures still to be completed, it is a farce. Set cut off dates and that is it. The clubs really need to organise themselves better.

The answer to your question is there's far to many Danish rider's in the Premiership and clubs won't run on a Wednesday because these rider's would be missing

Or maybe another way of looking at it....

If British Speedway had just stuck with its allocated (and agreed to), Monday and Thursday nights, you could have had as many Danes riding over here as you wished, and that could have been ANY or EVERY week you wanted a fixture planned in, without any clashes....

Only British Speedway could have done what they did with fixed nights...

I don't think it's fair to blame Wednesday race nights fir fixture issues, Poole (Andersen) and Lynn (Iversen) have used Dane's on Wednesday's for years! How is it worse now?

Hottest, driest Summer for decades, there is no excuse, except for gross incompetence, for any team not to have completed their home fixtures on time.

Because it's only this season Denmark has priority on any of their teams rider's on a Wednesday.

Previously Danish rider's only had to race in 25% of their league fixtures to maintain their DMU licence.

In seasons past Iversen would race mainly Friday's in his home country, now if called upon he has to race regardless.

Yes I think Keith Chapman is being unfairly singled out

Nothing new there. The guy actually wants an independant body in control. He has said he is only going to do 3 years so if I’m correct this agm is his last. I bet he can’t wait to get out. It’s like world politics. Everybody will grow to hate the man in charge

There's 1 power tripping lunatic absolutely desperate for the job but he hasn't made himself very popular with other promoters.
