Poole back near the top of the league & out come the glory fans.

Not aimed at the regulars who supported them when they were getting thrashed at home last season.

Poole win by 18 points or more.

The same for every club in all sports, why single out Poole? Success increases local interest. That will never change. Did the current champions manage to retain the ‘glory fans’?

And in all likeliness probable.

Well a huge crowd turned up tonight for this local derby. The carpark was full an hour before the start and grandstand full at 7pm. Any latecomers had to go to the overflow carparks and stand along the home straight or bends.

The track seemed well prepared but on the slick side. More of that shortly. Hyabb from Swindon posted on here that more trackwork was needed and the Poole riders were unhappy. Funny that Brady said after the meeting that the track was perfect and just how they wanted it. Tracy Bird posted it was a dust bowl. If you are going to lie Tracy Bird, make sure the people you are lying to didn’t attend. There was no dust. Track had been well watered before the meeting and there was no need for any further watering during the meeting.

The track imo was slicker than normal. Harris in particular struggled to find speed to pass early in the meeting. Swindon do have a team of 5 Wimborne Road specialists and it was a tough battle all the way, the scoreline keeping the tension going.

But what a spectacular finish. Heats 13,14 and 15 all worth the admission money on their own. Sure, it was 3 5-1’s to Poole but both teams made the race and the roar of the crowd was almost deafening.

In heat 11 Kacsper Woryna ran a last, but imo he should have been out in heat 12. However Middlo stuck with Riss as he had done a very decent job. But he ran a last when Kacsper would have seen off Zach W.

In heat 13 we had Batchelor and Morris v Brady and Bomber. Robins on 1 and 3. Tapes up and Brady got away but Bomber at the back. He got past Morris and set off after Batchelor, only to go to the back again off bend 2 lap 2. Then cut under Morris and again gave chase. A final bend blast around theoutside of Batchelor took the roof off.

Heat 14 was just as good. Kacsper gated but Worrall was last, again. But he must have been watching Bomber the race before. He squared off some corners and down the back straight of lap 3 went between the Swindon pair into bend 3. Zach W tried to maintain 2nd but Worrall was through and the roof, which had just fallen vack into place from the previous heat, was blown clean off again.

In heat 15, Brady gated, Harris dropped into second and that looked like that. Except they got in each others way entering lap two and Harris had to bail towards the fence allowing both Swindon riders through. Again he gave chase, and again after getting past Bellego he went after Batchelor and got him in the run in to the line. The roof was last seen floating past the chain ferry at the entrance to Poole harbour.

A fantastic finale and everyone bar the Robins fans will go home buzzing after that. By the way we sat by a group who had come down from Swindon and they were the most charming of fans. They cheered and clapped their team and even applauded the final 3 heats when the meeting went away from them. They said they just don’t get that type of racing at Blunsdon and said the crowd was huge and noisy. Really nice proper speedway fans.

There was clearly more to the meeting than the final three heats but just highlighting the ending.

For Poole.

Brady back to his best after he completely missed the gate in heat one.

Josh was very solid. Finally showing consistency after a poor first half of the season.

Richie Worrall was slow and extremely poor in his first three rides. If Poole had been at full strength he would never have had his ladt two rides. Lucky he redeemed himself, especially in heat 14.

Harris couldn’t get close to Ellis early in the meeting but got better and better. Motm imo, though Skidder who was meeting sponsor, gave it to Brady.

Kacsper was excellent value. So fast at times.

Mark Riss did a very good job guesting at reserve.

For Swindon.

Batchelor tried all night. Found it too hit in heats 13 and 15.

Bellego is so quick out of the starts. Made a pass on Riss in heat 8.

Adam Ellis was excellent. Swindon’s best rider. Poole should never have let him go.

Musielak was awful. Twice excluded for going though the tapes. Lessons from Brady? Then when in 3rd team riding he over cooked it on bend three, knocking off Ellis in the process. Came out again in his next and went through the tapes. Then ran a last.

Morris got the full set. 3,2,1,0.  Not the rider he was l season.

Zach W found it very tough going.

Smith was 100 metres behind. Not sure why he hasn’t fallen on his sword tbh.

So a very tough first half of the meeting where Swindon kept in relately close, before Pirates stretched their legs and blew them away in the second. Swindon will be all out to win on Monday night at Blunsdon and will probably get revenge. But nice to get revenge after Swindon won here in the A fixture.

Looking forward to hearing what DC2 has to say about tonight.:D

The star of the show was Kacper Woryna. He just just loves riding for Poole and his enthusiasm is a joy to watch.

Ooh dear an up themselves Belle Vue fan can’t bear the fact that Wimborne Road showed just how good it can be with some stonking racing.

We all know that Belle Vue has an excellent racetrack but that doesn’t mean other tracks won’t produce some thrilling racing as well. Those three races at the end of tonights meeting were sensational.

Ignore them Steve. Yes it was superb and we dont need to tell others how good our track can be. But, we still have a lot of work to do, and Monday could be D day.

All that continuous gloating from some Swindon fans, especially poor old Darren Cook, has certainly come home to roost in spectacular fashion. On an on it went, but now it’s come back to bite them on the ass big style.

Poole Might not win it this season but we will make the playoffs and be in with a shout.  Somerset are now clear favourites for the title, but it’s been the closest run league for many seasons.

Great result for the Aces tonight, so well done. Regarding tracks, we want all tracks to be excellent, great racing will bring back the crowds, hope so anyway. Well done tonight.

Steve, if we get in and there is till a lot of work to do, we will be a massive threat to whoever else gets in.
