From the Sheffield Star:-

Sheffield Tigers’ bosses say they will enjoy the best venue in the country when work on the first bend at Owlerton is complete. The old concrete terracing under cover has gone to make way for a massive investment in a 500-capacity conference and banqueting suite. It means viewing for fans will be on the home straight and third and fourth turns next season. And it’s been confirmed the mesh barrier on the bends, which is up for Stock Car racing, will be taken down for speedway events to benefit fans with a much improved view of the action.Sheffield co-promoter Damien Bates said: “We already have impressive facilities, but this is going to take the stadium to a new level. When you look at the plans and the investment our landlords are making you have to be impressed, it’s going to superb. I accept a lot of people loved standing on the first turn but we are moving with the times and the third and fourth bend area will have a clear view of the track and it can accommodate a lot of people. It’s going to be the best speedway stadium in the country when the new building is complete. We are very fortunate to be racing at a venue like Owlerton.” Bates has also been encouraged by the amount of positive feedback regarding the switch to Sunday afternoon racing rather than the traditional Thursday night. “Of course it doesn’t suit everyone but we’ve had lots of comment from people who are saying they will be able to come along on a Sunday. With a 4pm start they can even bring the kids along and hopefully we will see a new generation of supporters. There’s so much to look forward to next season, the team is highly rated by many people I’ve spoken to and the lads are buzzing".

Investment in facilities is fine but don't think this is being done for the benefit of the speedway fans.

How will this affect chances of staging the likes of the PLRC. ?

Will the back straight be opened up ?

it'll be another Panorama room type building , doubt they'd  open it  for a normal speedway meeting (maybe just major events)

Careful Tigers bigging  up young Kemp by too much. Already saying he can put 2 maybe 3 on his average. Different class of rider at this level.

While you need a Bit of luck in this sport, judging what I saw of him at Ashfield last season he looks a real talent.

Well he beat a number of them in his 7 meetings last season averaging 4.65

Even if you put his Scunny top score aside it was still around 3.5 from other 6

Of course his debut zero could be the one less typical in which case its around 5

Adding 2 - 3 is certainly within his grasp

He will put at least two points on his average after his first away match, when he will get an average

I’m not saying he hasn’t the ability, just pointing out the sport is littered with young guys who come in under pressure to do well straight away, and fail. Different track for him to get used to as well. Good luck to him.

All reserves beat Scunny reserves. Our 6 & 7 let us down badly.

When you have 2 teams built to 38 points ( 76 for the meeting) and 90 points available total, there will be a lot of riders put a point on their average, whether it is of any significance is of doubt this year, if every meeting was drawn 45 /45 and both teams are built to 38 points there are 7 extra points per team to be doled out somewhere ?

Averages are based on number of rides and heat 15 has 4 more rides for the extra 6 points.  To get what you are looking for you have to take 42 points as the average giving 4 extra points being 'doled out' .

In reality if every match finished 45/45 then every teams averages would add up to 42.

He will be riding against riders he beat at NL level last year so a 5 to 5.5 average is possible.

Agree June,  they were absolutely terrible , on the subject of Kemp,  if he keeps clear of injury should be a Sheffield matchwinner.
