Scorpions v Sheffield 31.08.2018 7.30pm

Recommended Posts

Broc Nicol is in for a busy and high scoring night one would assume seems to have a love for the Scunthorpe track.

R/R for Shanes is an absolute joke

1 the meeting is on Saturday

2 Practice is on Saturday at 14.30pm local

3 meeting starts at 20.15pm local

4 Morizes is 44 miles only from Bordeaux airport

5 It is against the rules that any facility is given apart from race day- i quote

" k) is on FIM Longtrack Championship duty (for the day of the Meeting only; no facility is permitted for practice day)"

It is somewhat ironic that they are racing Scunthorpe who have history in being allowed illegal guests for riders doing longtrack.

Isn't it always an amazing coincidence just how many times riders miss meetings away from home yet much, much less frequently have 'clashes' which mean they miss home meetings...

Uncanny...

Might be something to do with Sheffield riding on a Thursday

Guest WTF1

Can see Sheffield winning this,  Scunny have no reserves and Mountain and Nicol ride very well here.

R & R has said that Sheffield should not be using r/r but a NL guest as no facility should be given. Even practice is on the Saturday. Is Harris riding for Glasgow tonight as he is in the longtrack team  with Wajtknecht & Ellis?

Does it really matter if it's r/r or national league guest ? It makes no difference to league table ,we will still finish bottom !!!!! Speedway rules are a total joke and if Scunthorpe are that desperate to win then Godfrey will get his way tonight.only losers will be the crowd paying to see a rider miles behind the rest.If Broc rides like he has lately we will not have adequate cover for r/r anyway.I think Scunthorpe are scared he might ride like he did last time.

Good point. Why have any rules for Sheffield if they're going to finish bottom anyway?

How is Harris getting there?

How is Shanes getting there?

If Shanes is driving there is no way he could risk setting off the meeting, he will already be on his way

It's a disgrace that he cant afford to fly out tonight or tomorrow morning

Harris is flying to Bordeaux in the morning( that`s the nearest airport)

on my orginal post i found a flight from Birmingham at 6.55am which got to Bordeaux at 10am which Shanes could have taken  and i think it was £71 - Harris probably can get a flight nearer to where he is tonight.

I would love the SCB or the BSPA to explain which rule the facility was granted under.

Is anybody bothered ? Scunthorpe have still won, so it doesn't matter how anybody got to Bordeaux etc. Speedway rules in general are a complete farce. Every promotor is in it for there own club. Until an independent regime take it over then you will always get twists and turns with each rule. This season has been  a joke from day one with only one set of fixtures instead of two which has always worked at our level. We are now going into September with some teams nowhere near completing their fixtures ,the early season shield semi finals have not been rode and now we've got supporters worrying about r/r in a meaningless fixture ????  well done to Scunthorpe on the 3 points ,at least we will have another trophy to polish this winter even though it may only be at wooden spoon.. Let's hope the bspa can put things right and give us a full fixture list next season. As a footnote it will be interesting to see how much promotors have SAVED this season after their wise decision.

So you think pointing out  that a facility for a rider riding in the same meeting as a rider who has ridden tonight in Scotland  is a trivial matter ? There is no option to ride or not. If Shanes wasn`t at Scunthorpe no facility was available within the rules this supposedly  professional sport operates with. Speedway within the UK from the top down is bent

Gutted!

Another good Scunny v Sheffield  meeting, good racing but shame about the result! Can’t believe we led for 14 heats and then lost
