Scunthorpe 2019

Recommended Posts

With the season end fast approaching, its time to look towards 2019, and hopefully there will be a 2019 for the Scorpions. Personally I think we should try build our team around Josh, Jake and Jason, the 3 that have arguably carried our team this season.

1. Steve Worrall- Think he may be back next season after this season not going to plan.

2. Josh Pickering - Always seems to ride the EWR very well, would love to see him in a Scorpions racejacket on a full-time basis

3. Josh Auty - Is he really going to go anywhere else? Roumered to have his testimonial at the EWR in 2019

4. Jake Allen - Been the best rider in the 2018 Scorpions by far. He also intends to be in a Scorpions jacket next season

5. Jason Garrity - Just have a slight feeling he will be back in Scorpions colours next season

6. Broc Nicol - Likes the EWR track, would be a good addition to the Scorpions.

7. Joe Lawlor - Impressed in a short time with Sheffield this season, why not give the kid a chance

Not sure what the averages would come up to, but a team that would be entertaining

The Championship won't have teams to that strength next year.

why , what are they going to do ? make all the rider averaging OVER 8  move up into the so called elite/premiership league ?

did we not TRY to go down that route this year and look what happened. two good  premier riders AND a gp rider in the championship !

they cannot stretch the product any more . the rubber will .  b r e a k .

its already on the point of self destruction , if you give her much more , she will blow captain .  ( star trek ) aye aye , scotty !

No thanks,  gifted points again but I suppose without them Scunny would have lost last night,  the team should be built around Auty/Allen and Garrity

With rumours of only 2 divisions next season...the scorpions maybe in the top flight...or would you prefer conference?

It seems that it is unlikely that all the highest averaging riders in the PL will be racing in UK leagues next season. If so, it is easy enough to reduce overall team strengths. After all changing the name to Premier League didn't result in a doubling of attendances at all PL clubs did it? If there is a lower level all round that should hold the crowds at present levels but is unlikely to boost them much. Might get rid of doubling down.

That's about the strength the Premiership will be next year, so three clubs can afford to move up and three NL clubs can afford to move into the Championship. Either that or several clubs pack up now! Look at the empty terraces and face reality.

Unfortunately it won't get any better,  it's like an episode of Last of the summer wine when you go to Scunny but the racing is excellent,  compare that to Poland with big crowds young fans chanting and excited but with mainly gate and go boring racing so has this country finally become uninterested with speedway even if there is good racing except for the diehard supporters

That is precisely what has happened, partially due to those who promote speedway not changing their ways or looking at what the customer would like. The general public of the UK is disinterested in speedway and has turned it's back and walked away. I genuinely doubt whether it can be turned around, even to the point of being viable enough to carry on as it is with enough diehard fans.
