Play Off Run In

Recommended Posts

With the final 3 spots for the play offs anything but certain it looks like an exciting run in and fingers crossed the weather plays ball.

Based upon rough current form (and we all know that means little in speedway)

Kent - Current Points 34 - Buxton away +4 Total 38

Coventry - Current points 28  - Buxton away +4, Buxton Home +3, Mildenhall Home 0 Total 35

Eastbourne - Curent Points 28 - Stoke Home +3, IOW Home +3, Mildenhall H ? Total 34+?

Birmingham - Current Points 30 Buxton Away + 4 Total 34

A slip up anywhere for any side and the chance has gone, Buxton & its notorious weather will play a huge part in the run in as any matches not completed will have a serious impact. Its entirely possible that 2nd place Kent could miss out if the match isn't run......

Whilst its rubbish that all matches haven't been completed and that is having an impact it certainly makes for an exciting end to the season.

Looks like 'Buxton' could Bux-up '3' teams ? : )

Well it's forecast rain for Sunday, so that could be our season over ?

I can't imagine any Brum fan would be that bothered after the season we've had?

Nobody will beat Mildenhall over 2 legs anyway....imo

essentially everyones riding for 2nd place anyway, but it beggars belief why sides have 5-6 wk breaks with no meetings in mid summer. It could even be that the only side with the remotest sniff of giving mildy a match over 2 legs  wont qualify

My heart bleeds for them.

Six-week break or no six-week break: Eastbourne look set to get their home meetings in before the cut off date.

Only by running a double header which their shouldn’t be a need to do.

You can defend the promotion as much as you like, but running no home meetings in the peak holiday season is a suicidal business model. No wonder the crowd levels have been poor for last few home matches. With Rye House running a championship double header tonight for only £2 more, that is where my money will be going.

Seems bizarre that allegedly (according to Buxtons' website), Eastbourne could've ridden at Buxton tomorrow, but aren't going to.

It is true, both Eastbourne and Coventry enquired about the possibility of racing at Buxton on 16th. As we were not prepared to choose one team over the other I referred the matter to the authorities only for Eastbourne to say they couldn't come after all, so the date was offered to Coventry. Eastbourne were also offered the possibility of Stoke on 16/9 but turned that down for the same reason.

Eastbourne look well set for a win after 4 heats being 19-5 already against Stoke.

Have you any idea why?  They are not very good at giving reasons to the supporters for their decisions. If they don't  beat Mildenhall on Saturday or it is rained off then they could be out.     Surely with Baseby and Powell plus anybody else missing they could use guests?

It is unbelievable that they would be prepared to take that risk.  Fixtures still have to be completed by end October so they could be second in the final table but out of the play off's.   Makes us wonder if they are going to pull the plug in 2019.

The only way Eastbourne won't qualify is if Birmingham win at Mildenhall (no chance).    So they may as well go to Buxton when they have a full team & not ride a double header the night before.

Can see the possibility  2 or 3 teams ending on the same points by the cut off date, does it then go to points difference or is there some other formula?

On points. Jon Cook said on the mic last night that if Berwick won at Ipswich by 4 points they would be level with Lakeside but then Lakeside only had to score 25 points against Peterboro and they would still go through.
