Reading a biography, Benny Hill was a speedway fan. He moved to a new home as a child that was around 100 yards away from the Banister Court stadium in Southampton and followed the sport until his death in 1992.

David would always delay the start of his gigs so that he could take in Speedway first.

BBC North East news presenter Jeff Brown not only follows local teams ( being a former Sunderland Stars fan ) he is actually team managing a Sunderland junior team at a 4TT event at Redcar next week.

Good job they did not have the start line girls in those days.
