You nearly got your wish when Worky got "Humped" up at the Dale

Well pardon me for congratulating you, I am a speedway fan in general and dont mind the Comets team but some of the comets fans are as bad as some of the monarchs fans, I even remember our bus getting its windows smashed some years back when Tigers were down in Workington, I was giving credit where credit is due but obviously that is not accepted by your fickle fans.

If I remember correctly, the window was smashed when the driver misjudged the bridge turning into the stadium. I know the driver of another bus had to move during the meeting after threats were made to smash the windows.

Lets be perfectly honest, Glasgow have plenty of history with on and off track violence over the years.

Lindqvist/Beveridge at Newport in 1999 when Beveridge decided to boot Lindqvist in the shoulder when he was lying on the ground, with his steel shoe.

Then theres the following year when Andre Compton who was guesting for Newport at the time had to have a police escort out the stadium, thats without numerous other occasions.

The fans on the whole are great though.

Andre had many meetings for you as a guest one year. Strangely he also went on a Northern Tour with your team, I think Tim liked his tenacious riding in those days.

That was the year I am referring to, the Scottish tour.

I think there was a fair bit of intimidation from Newport fans over the years, even at Somerton Pk., what about the guy who threw a large stone at Shane Parker after the race?

I remember some hard riding in the Friday night meetings at Newport on the Friday before the Cardiff GP's.

2006 Pinny. Shane and Danny Bird got a 4-2 to clinch the meeting for Glasgow 46-44 after security got called to the referees box when Jim McGregor excluded Carl Wilkinson when he came down on the first bend . Shane was doing his celebration wheelie along the home straight when some eejit lobbed a large stone at him .
