berwick bandits 2019

Good shout but Berwick's best crowds are against Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Redcar, Workington. What kind of crowds would they get against Buxton, Isle of Wight, etc. Dropping into the NL they would still have to pay the same rent for the stadium. As regards weekends off now and again, one of the biggest complaints this season has been the lack of meetings and gaps in the fixture list.

Pretty sure you will still get them coming down when they have free weekends they all love a Berwick night out another rider Ryan Blacklock whose thinking of chucking his leg over a bike again

As things stand right now NL racing at Berwick is just about a non starter, maybe if the likes of Newcastle, Edinburgh for example came down to it would be a possibility but right now our most local track would be Buxton or Belle Vue so Berwick would be even more reliant on their own fan base than ever.

Have to agree, I would personally go and watch a competitive NL team with local riders but we would need other local teams to follow suit and anyways, we dont have an owner to do this with...

As things stand right now there will be no speedway at berwick next year , so just think about that

As things stand it maybe that there’s not a lot of speedway anywhere and it will be a sad loss as it can be a great family night out but things need to change dramatically to allow speedway to continue and grow and I don’t think the will is there with the people running the show it that I’m alright mentality.

Great idea let us move away from a facility already in place, try and get planning permission which would never happen and go to the expense of building a new track. I sat at a public meeting in 1981 at Chirnside, when speedway were offered land there for a new track and as we know never happened.

You are correct regarding planning permission, and if the bandits fold, should someone take it on in the future they wont get planning permission.

Surely Shielfield already has planning consent for speedway. If so why would it need future planning permission.

Yes but if it folds , would planning permission need to be reapplied for ?

NO.

In very rare circumstances permission is tied to the applicant ( e.g. an alteration to a domestic residence to accommodate a person's disabilities), but it generally relates to the site. Sometimes permission is originally given for a trial period ( as happened at Sittingbourne) but this will be followed by a permanent use application at the end of a trial period.

Berwick has planning permission at Shielfield to run speedway, it will not have to be applied for, certainly not in the next 5 years anyway
