It's black and white, the result isn't mathematically sure. Panthers were 99.9% out and Lakeside deserve to go through, but the rules require a result to be definite. The boy's got a point. New era Panthers 2,055 Posted October 21, 2018 25 minutes ago, JeremyCorbynFan said: Apparently Jon Cook has referred this to the SCB. Why? The only option is to run the meeting again. If Lakeside can't stage the fixture, the Panthers would be happy to let them use the Showground. Is there anything in the rules that states a qualified electrician should be in attendance as it seem there wasn't one there tonight .
PE7Panther 331 Posted October 21, 2018 Surely Worky fans would prefer to face Panthers - for several reasons: Worky came out on top in both league meetings. Panthers have a patched up team and even though they'd probably get better guests for the grand final, it's not the same as having your own riders. Surely Worky fans would much prefer to travel down to the EoES for the 2nd leg rather than the horrible Rye House stadium. At least when our lights fail, we have proper temporary floodlights on site!

To be honest, I don't blame Lakeside. It's probably Rye House`s stadium.

After all, there must be serious questions about whether the ramshackle stadium that Hammers are using these day is really up to it. Does speedway really want to risk another farce, and possibly even two, down there? It would be more of a farce to award a match to a team losing heavily. This should be a lesson learnt to run Speedway during the summer months and have all league fixtures and play-offs completed before the end of September. Leave October for outstanding Cup Ties and any other meetings.

rocket007 101 Posted October 21, 2018 I also don't see why there is such a shortage of riders(excluding injuries), as at the start of the season, all riders must have contracts to end of season which is October 31st.
PE7Panther 331 Posted October 21, 2018 I bet Cook, Lawson & Co are now regretting squealing at the Showground and trying to pull off a fast one. Funny how they reckoned it was too dark and dangerous even though Panthers installed 3 sets of proper temporary floodlights (that were readily available on site along with a qualified electrician, please note). Whereas the best Hammers could do tonight was stick a tractor with one headlight on the track, plus a couple of vans! Oh dear..... talk about what "goes around comes around"....

NickRushbrook 202 Posted October 21, 2018 Could we not run the remaining heats behind closed doors on another day in the week(assuming riders are available etc)?
