Garrity always acts like he’s on something, he’s an absolute liability on and off the track ....you would think he would learn as every season he sidelines himself ends up injured ..his behaviour is uncalled for , shouting and swearing at young kids ...Nice  We were talking to some Sheffield fans at Scunny,  very interesting stories about him !

How do you find him when you actually spoke to him?

Exactly the same , infact last season his van was being escorted out after his usual shenanigans shouting abuse at us out the window

Congratulations to Workington staff, riders & fans & well deserved on the night. As I have posted, previously, it is your strength in depth that has pulled you through & riders that did not turn up on Sunday did so tonight winning races with not many lasts for others.

This was my first visit & knew the stadium was used for Rugby & Football so the track is based on long narrow straights leading to 2 banked ends. This lead to a gate and go bore fest & before posters have a go, this is not my cup of tea. In previous years, I used to go to Kings Lynn & Sheffield as a neutral, as I read it was good but then stopped going as the racing became poor with gate & go more evident. This last year, both tracks have improved & I have visited again. I have, also, been to the NSS & while others have posted it is the best track in the country, it was bound to be as purpose built with millions thrown at it but it is also boring for the 1st 5 or 6 races until the dirt moves out, as is the case with most tracks.

As I have read a great night had by the Comets & well deserved with the excitement of the score line getting closer & noise levels increasing, more so where we were in the back straight. This was similar to how it was in the Semi at Peterborough but we quietened them down when we found our set ups & gating shoes. Peterborough's track was devout of shale & ours was on Sunday & Workington last night so why does it take so long to get a set up to work. Do the riders not write things down or do they try & remember everything. I know in my lifetime, I took notes. The first 30 metres & 2 bends decided most races as it seemed as if it was a 1 line entry to the corners & with the Comets gating better than us, overtaking was at a premium as the Comet riders put their bikes in the right places when we got close.

After have some fun with some posters on here, I finally got to meet some of them putting faces to names, even the 3 witches, sorry, ladies, seem harmless. Introduced to THJ & a few other posters & non-posters that now know of me. Spooky.

Good luck in your remaining meetings as others could say we could have been rusty at having almost a month of not racing, yet your guys have had a lot of meetings, are race sharp with equipment still going strong. Much respect.

I am a bit reluctant to be critical here but I take issue with a couple of points.

I am pretty sure that none of us want to watch a 'a gate and go borefest' but in my experience Workington just isn't like that. Most of the meetings I have seen there this season have been decent at least and I certainly wouldn't make a 6 hour round trip to watch rubbish.

The NSS is no more a purpose built speedway track than EWR is and I'd remind you that Leicester is the same, suggesting that such a track is not 'bound' to be good for racing. A great deal of care went into ensuring that the NSS became the world class circuit that it is.

In truth, both EWR and NSS are similar where racing is concerned. I'd say that it would be harsh to say that the early heats are 'boring' more that there is usually a definite improvement later on.

NSS is the best track in the country, but EWR is definitely second and only a bit behind. I am most fortunate to have both within reasonable travelling distance.

Check the updates site as the texter (Kevcfc) is pretty good & he posted that 13 of 15 were "from the gate" as heats 8 & 12 were gated by Scorpion riders. Maybe it was just one of those meetings especially at this time of the year when the weather is unpredictable.

You seem to miss out the fact on the NSS that millions were thrown at it. The EWR is purpose built for speedway at the start with Stock cars using it later & had to be adapted to suit. The stands & café(old one) & now clubhouse have been added over the fourteen years in use. Leicester was built to be a sporting arena of the area with multi sports using the facilities.

Maybe the early heats should not be classed as boring but they are certainly one liners with hardly any overtaking unless mistakes are made.

You can only beat what is put infront of you, as your say heats 8 & 12 there was passing as our riders didn't gate but were faster and got past. Jake Allen was the only visiting rider who looked fast, and if Rene or Rasmus had kept missing the gate there would of been a lot more passing like there has been all season.

as marksman has said .

workington were far quicker  from the start and even had the home fans cheering and smelling victory before the apex of bends 1 and 2 . they were in command even  at that stage of the race .

as i see it , a track is a track and almost  everyone is different , apart from the purpose built ones ..

being around a rugby pitch has its drawback , but who cares . at this moment in time . we have speedway for another two meetings and then ,who knows . dont moan about how sticky the base is or the camber , adverse or what ever . salute the people who use their time and MONEY to put on a show for everybody around the u.k.

Jesus has someone pinched Jenga's lap top and started posting as him... that's about the fourth good post he's put out in as many days.... either turned over a new leaf or had a bump to the head.

When I get back in the office i will post what the local reporter put in the paper as it made interesting reading on the meeting heat by heat and provided a different pair of eyes and perspective

Couldn't remember what happened to save my life I was so caught up in the moment then got stinking rotten drunk which always plays havoc with the old memory cells. Doh!!! It was a duty after filling that cup with drink and for reference it takes a gallon no problem.

That's if anyone is interested of course.

Regards

THJ
