Play off final

Recommended Posts

Well it's the 23rd October season will  finish in a week and we are still waiting for the last qualifier to cross the line, won't know till around 21.30 on Wednesday, that's if electric bill is paid !!

What hope has speedway got to be taken seriously if the main match of the season is not known, teams can't run full publicity to hopefully attract more fans, traveling fans can't organise hotels to make a long journey more bearable, and fans need to be able to get time off work to attend , just hope over winter the people at the top who ' try and run ' our sport make deadlines so each competition is run on time and spread out over the summer, not scrambling about in the last week of October to fit it all in, rant over !!

No chance of being taken seriously. I thought with the lesser amount of fixtures to complete; the season would reach a quicker conclusion than it has.

Isn't it SO exciting, all that uncertainty? Especially as the final may need to be held over until the start of the 2019 season and that will make a thrilling start to the new season. Fans need to applaud the BSPA for such innovative thinking in order to keep things at boiling point until the very end of the season. Or perhaps even, beyond? See how spin works!

Be even more excitement when neither of the finalists are running next season!

Weather forecast for Cumbria both Sunday and Monday is for about 5 degrees in the evenings with north easterly winds around 15mph. But the good news, is no rain.

So can the two clubs count on the BSPA to give this a big promotional push? Involving spending money? Just as a little thank you gesture for being so co-operative in cancelling fixtures during the season for the "greater good".

There will be live BBC Radio Cumbria commentary from Derwent Park on Sunday evening...with James Philips and John Walsh (remember him ?) . They also have a guest commentator doing his bit too.. I beleive he is called Stonehewer (or something like that!)

Hope that will be available online, sometimes live commentaries are only broadcast on conventional radio.  Will be good to hear Stockport's finest giving his insight, without swearing:drink:
