90 Stars of British League DVD

Recommended Posts

Just received in the post a leaflet regarding a new release DVD entitled '90 Stars of British League - 1970 - 1990' from the excellent 'Retro Speedway Shop'. A definite purchase on the cards as the list of riders featured resembles a 'Who's Who' of British Speedway during speedway's last 'Golden Era'.

Pity the action does not date from the inception of the BL in 1965. I'm missing some of my all-time favourites...

Shouldn't the 90 riders have been from 1928-2018

Why? When it's about the British league? And the footage of pre-war riders in any case would be quite limited.

Definitely a bias towards riders at the latter end of the period, presumably due to better quality footage available.

Hamil included despite only riding 1 season in the BL. But someone like Soren Sjosten who was a hl for many years and key member of the great belle vue side is omitted. But then it is "90 stars" no claims it is the best 90.

Would be good to hear from someone who buys it if it is worth getting

I always liked to watch Sjosten in action.
