One league at Championship level is looking like the only option now and just hope they don't make the big mistake of doing a north and south as it will cause so many problems in the long run and clubs like Redcar and Berwick need to have nights entertaining Swindon, Wolves and Poole on a level playing field . It may be forced on some but hopefully they will see it's better swimming in a bigger pool than a puddle and I'm sure many NL riders will benefit next year if it does and they run it for three years not change everything again in 12 months. Is this a leak of what really has been discussed or a vivid imagination?
Skidder1 7,616 Posted November 13, 2018 How can one league be more 'efficient'? Aside from theoretically ruling out some higher averaged riders, the 'new' heat leaders will automatically demand heat leader deals unless their costs are dramatically reduced. Whether it be North/South or not, the clubs with more assets or money will still be stronger and more successful, meaning that the weaker teams will just languish in the lower half of the league. Teams with no realistic chance of winning anything and go on a lengthy losing streak will soon lose more fans and money. I can't see any efficiency in that scenario.

Just sat in tesco's reading last weeks Speedy Star. Brilliant features and write ups. The REFS and Tatums. I like his bit plonking kids on seats, but he's right. We need something massively positive to come out of the AGM. Including a simplified rule book. And stick to it...

Nine teams in the Eliterserien(Swedish top league) in 2019 so 1 team misses out each round therefore 18 Tuesday`s will be required to run the regular season. Between the beginning of May (7th) and the 3rd September there are 18 Tuesday`s- they shouldn`t even have to lose a Tuesday for the SON in 2019. Yes they tried something new in 2018 when they had a back to back 24 hour Tues/Wed local derby fixture which they maybe will try and do again. The Swedish 2nd div runs Thursday`s and hasn`t caused the UK many problems. In my opinion if GB want Thursday`s they will get priority in 2019. Told you so
hyabb17 1,077 Posted November 14, 2018 Pleased common sense prevailed considering Monday & Thursday were our protected days. Probably why Ipswich & Boro have come up as otherwise it would have only been a 5 team league!!!

Daniel Smith 5,645 Posted November 15, 2018 All Thursday tracks moved so Premiership can control that evening. Hopefully it can appease the Belle Vue fans a little one night before Friday. For me, if a rider gets injured it's R/R and no guest. If 2 are injured then it's R/R and a guest from the Championship that has no team in the Premiership. That way there's no conflict of interest. Working Came as a bit of a weird statement when they switched to Thursday's as Sweden already did this a week or so ago. Both have claims they have priority from different organisations and all will become clear soon I'm sure. If Sweden are doing Thursday's the few Swedish riders will surely have priority there but will have to see if they are working together to get it sorted. Skidder1 7,616 Posted November 16, 2018 Sweden are only looking to Thursdays for Elitserien fixtures (as well as Tuesday) to allow all 9 clubs in 2019 to have at least one fixture each week. It wasn't an issue with 8 teams because they could all race on Tuesdays, with their 2nd division on Thursdays. The term 'Fixed Race Nights' is incorrect really as has been said by others. It should be 'Priority Race Nights'. The British Premiership will have priority as agreed by FIM for Monday and Thursday racing. However there will doubtless be some Premiership fixtures on other days eg Good Friday and some Wednesdays when other countries will have priority if there are rider clashes. Mondays and Thursdays were designated priority in 2018 but Premiership clubs reluctantly agreed to go Mon/Weds under pressure from some Championship Thursday clubs who threatened not to run if they were shifted from their regular night. Its good to see that sense has finally prevailed.

Most probably happen next year when the owner thinks enough time has passed for folk not to realise he has swapped his two teams around. Also reason given maybe having had to move to Sunday because majority of Prem raced on Thursday we found it did not work so only way we can race on Thurs is to step up a league.
